Carter 2 Motorsports ends relationship with Bobby Hamilton, Jr.:
Carter 2 Motorsports announced today that the relationship between the ARCA Racing Series team and driver Bobby Hamilton, Jr. has been terminated, effective immediately. Hamilton, Jr., acting on behalf of Precision MotorSports Limited, had signed a contract to drive for the team in February 2014, but was unable to uphold the financial terms of the agreement. Hamilton, Jr. along with his sponsor, St. Louis based Cherokee Charcoal, were equal partners in Precision MotorSports Limited. Carter 2 Motorsports has been in negotiations with representatives of Cherokee Charcoal this week in hopes of modifying the original agreement. Those negotiations were terminated and Trussville, Ala. native Dustin Knowles has been named to drive the number 40 Carter 2 Motorsports Dodge Charger at the March 22nd “ARCA Mobile 200” at Mobile International Speedway (Ala.).(Carter 2 Motorsports)(3-20-2014)

It was a different time for sure..backyard engineering...crazy out of the box thinkers.
Watching some old Indy tapes...Mickey Thompson...Granatelli Bros...British invasion....front vs rear engine cars in the same race...stock blocks...Offys....Goodyear vs Firestone...glad I was around to see it.
Funny nowadays we have incredible technology for data collection...awesome materials...fantastic machine tools...legions of smart engineers...and mostly they are just changing springs and shocks...
Looks like 3/1 to Me
Crafton to sub for Menard Friday:
Matt Crafton will substitute for #27-Paul Menard in practice and qualifying Friday at Auto Club Speedway as Menard remains in North Carolina with his wife and newborn daughter. Menard, whose daughter was born on Tuesday, will arrive in California in time for practice Saturday and the race on Sunday. He will have to start at the rear of the field because he will miss qualifying. NASCAR requires a driver to either qualify or race the car for every event in order to be eligible for a Chase for the Sprint Cup based on wins.
