I took a container of water to the Bullmastiff-there is no container out there because Husky girl lives indoors-I asked the owner where he got his nice dog, and he told me he bought the dog as a puppy 3-4 months of age at a rescue place in Dallas, and it was confiscated from a pet shop that was an outlet for a puppy mill-he said the puppy had an eye infection, a bad kennel cough and hid under stuff for weeks as if it were afraid of everything-you certainly would never know it now-he is all wagging and curiosity-that guy has done a great job spoiling the dog...

slightly sweet, has raisins in it, and is kind of coarse. reminds me of my Guyanese friend's mom's cross buns a bit.

Thanks-I should have connected it to baking soda. And now, I’ll have to make some soon, just to see how it tastes...

I think I might like it better without any stuff in it, but it does look good.

So how do you think this train wreck will be stopped? Insurance companies get more money to pay for the things they initially didn’t want to cover and now that everyone HAS to have insurance they will not be as strapped as initially thought. It isn’t going to stop and eventually we will all lose our group plans and be on single payer insurance

That is nice to hear - I never realized how bad puppy mills were until I started watching the tv shows about animal rescue. Someone who could treat a pet that way should be horsewhipped, repeatedly, and left in a cage between beatings.

Being a good Irish girl, I make my own each year MINUS the raisins in one. I’m a tiny bit picky. ;)

I really don’t know. I figure some grand bargain comes out eventually where this ridiculous “minimum coverage” thing is thrown away, more people end up on medicaid, but the private market is returned to the way it was.

If we’re smart, while we have the leverage we will have moves towards market-based pricing of routine medical expenses and use insurance for unseen events.

Probably something to equalize the tax effects of group/employer-based and individual markets is fair as well.

But we’re not called the Smart Party.

It doesn’t have to have raisins. We loved the dark wheat bread when we were there.

Probably, but I only eat bread that I bake from scratch-I’m increasingly convinced that the way things are spiraling down that we will all be doing that because HEB will be like a riot scene, if the stores can even get bread from the main bakery. I have become quite the end-timer over the last 8-10 years.

Most of my recipes have raisins. Maybe all of them. I made the best crumb cake this week on the cold day. It took me back in time to the days when my dad would pick one up at his favorite bakery in his hometown of Plainfield.
