These are examples of moose getting drunk in the wild. It didn't serve them well:

I actually don’t know. It’s not that common here. “Domesticated” elephants are generally either used in temples as processional animals, or out in remote logging camps where they never come into contact with anyone. The vast majority of elephant damage comes from wild elephant herds that wander into human-settled areas. Last month, a herd of 200 animals occupied the cricket stadium in a neighboring city. They didn’t leave for a week, and driving off a herd that big of 12-ton animals isn’t exactly like scaring a flock of starlings. I gather that the grass was quite a bit greener once they left, though.

Yeah, from my experience with dogs, they don’t have to be forced to drink beer.

Seriously?

Your best retort is a silly video?

If I had your “grip” on cogent debate, I’d just let go.

Go hump somebody else’s leg.

Yeah, plenty of animals willingly get themselves drunk in nature. Elephants, bears, or even the neighborhood squirrels on rotting pumpkins after Halloween. I’m not sure how people can moralize about it. Are we worried the animals are going to damage their brain cells and start showing up to work with hangovers?

“Should this be an acceptable behavioral norm for all small mammals, then?”

Depends on how well they can handle their liquor... you don’t want to give a weasel whiskey, trust me.

It’s a heck of a thing when you can get in trouble for helping your best friend do a keg stand.

Elephant rampages can happen without alcohol. They are intelligent enough to actually figure out what bastards humans can be and they can do something about it, unlike most animals. I don’t imagine drinking helps the situation though.

Regardless of its arguable cultural [pathological?] significance, that is one vid I didn’t need to see ...

I think you are missing the point. No one said anything about wild animals getting drunk. The original post was giving a dangerous substance (i.e. alcohol) to a pet animal.

Yes, they clearly did, in the post I was replying to.

Red herring.

The thread topic at hand involves a domesticated dog.

How hard is this?

If we’re going to swim with these fallacious fishes all night, why do we bother to take baby aspirin from kids when they try to eat a whole bottle full?

Lord knows they do it often enough.

They must like them.

Bottom line is, if y’all want to sit all night and equivocate or justify your drunken pets, have at it.

It’s your animal and your conscience.

caption at location of pic reads;
"Hey Juanno, Do what I do and have a drink with him!. Nicaman"

He's 'pulling' our leg, of course, or at least his friend Juanno's leg.

That's a neat trick though. Photo is from Nicaragua.

Damn right it’s my animal, and if he wants a drink now and then, and I want to give him one, that’s my business.

If you have a problem with that, well you go ahead and tell someone who cares.
