In Ireland this summer, there was a police car behind me with lights flashing so I pulled over.
In the rearview mirror I saw the officer step on the brakes and throw up his hands.
Forward, my mother saw the on-coming driver step on his brakes and throw up his hands.
And then the police car pulled around me.
But I still don’t know what you’re supposed to do in Ireland, when there is a police car with lights.

The family is fortunate that the cops didn’t shoot the two adults dead and handed the son over to CPS.

Horne said the couple didnt have Japanese drivers licenses with them.
They wouldn't have been able to get the rental car without a license. I wonder how they would even be able to get past the rental counter and get a car without speaking English. I admire their courage in driving around a country where they don't know the language - I've tried driving in a few Asian countries but only with a local who knows the language sitting in the passenger seat.

Good thing they weren’t traveling with their dog.

They had no business driving a car in the US to begin with. They could have killed someone. Gee is no body else on this forum going to say that.

“Realizing they were dealing with language and cultural barriers,”
It would be nice if they would extend similar courtesies to the old, the deaf, and Alzheimer’s sufferers.
Good thing there was no dog, or it would have been goodbye fido.

That stretch of I-15 used to be notorious for speed traps.
