According to Norman Reedus, he plays Daryl as someone who's pretty damaged and actively avoids anything to do with relationships.
I just read his bio on Wikipedia.
He's definitely hetreosexual, he was born in Florida but raised in L.A. and amoung other cities.
He seems to have some influence among the writers so let's hope he doesn't feel the need to "challenge" his acting skills and expand his characters "emotional bounaries"
The writers just killed off one of my favorites characters(Herchel)and if the gay up the other favorite, I'm done with WD.....

They’d better not do that to Daryl. If they do, we female Daryl Dixon fans might just ... riot!

It definitely be the death knell for the show as Daryl represents not just Southern Rural Masculinity(IMHO) but an era of of American Manhood. Rick is just too wishy-washy and, face it, unstable to represent the male legacy of our pioneer forebearers or movie idols like John Wayne, Jimmmy Stewart, etc. ... Which is why he's a plum target for the PC police to "turn" ,
Again, just my opinion..... YMMV
