Listening to domestic-extremist/right-wing-AM-radio, heard a news report about 2 guards being found dead on the Maersk Alabama in Seychelles. The report identified the guards as 'former Navy SEALs'. Tragic.
If it's posted anywhere, I can't find it and it's not indexed in search engines yet.
I can't say with certainty whether it was Bloomberg news or Fox News, as this station mixes it up and I didn't catch that.
Thanks for posting. BTTT!
Tom hanks, flaming obama supporter in the movie.
I refuse to further enrich the I Hate America crowd.
Did that really need a </sarc> tag?
Well, maybe...I guess. Apologies...was focused on finding citation for the radio report.
Captain may have been a jerk but remember you are dealing with union sailors here. One small spot in the movie showed the union attitude.
I wonder if the British SAS that shot up the Davidian Compound in Waco are still doing black bag ops for Kringtong? /nutjobconspiracy
Peter Doocy coming up on Fox in 2 minutes (1135am ET) with ‘details’, according to his tweet.
FYI.
one better i'll wait until it's in the library
I wonder if Hanks will make a sequel about this?
A lot of the longshoreman in that part of the world are pirates. In Viet Nam some of the longshoreman were VC.
Sri Lanka we observed and praised the physical prowness of a longshoreman climbing just wires & toe holds up five levels of containers on the stern of the ship ahead of us. The pilot bringing us in said those are the same guys that would board us as pirates.
Desert storm we were on high alert for terrorists boarding us in Asia. In one port they “doubled the guard” by putting grinning idiots leaning hands & face on their ancient shotguns while their cohorts looted the containers.
Inside help indeed. Al Quada infiltrated longshoreman is my guess.
Updated and moved into news.
Good catch.
Thanks for updating. The story still sounds ‘odd’, but at least it’s confirmed; waiting for posts from Doocy’s ‘details’ (I don’t get Fox).
Ship was at sea when they were found dead in the same cabin. Cause of death unknown at this time.
Plot indeed thickens.
cook or servers on the line serving food? Another theory. Finding very little regarding cause of death.
all am finding states ... cause of deaths to be determined by autopsy.
ping ... found anything?
I don’t think anyone on the ship. Having said that, I remember, many years ago, a coastie was busted for selling seamans documents to illegal, drum roll, amish, Seattle.
Still might be an Al Quada connection. Maybe the guys were somehow exposed in the previous port. Did they buy something or accept something from a “friendly”.
Easy to target someone when they think the danger level is past. 12-15 years ago an MST (Military Sea Transport, called something different today, I’m not keeping up) tanker had just put their shotguns away when they thought they were out of the pirate zone, Malaca Straits, and they got hit.
It is with great sorrow that Trident Group confirms the death of two Security contractors while onboard a merchant vessel which was pierside in the Seychelles. At the request of the families, the names are not being released. Seychelles authorities are conducting a full investigation of the circumstances surrounding the incident. There is no immediate indication as to the cause of death, but the deaths were not caused by operational activity. The next of kin have asked that no further information be released and requested that all respect the privacy of the families. Thomas Rothrauff President/CEOFrom Fox News, a/o 2220 UTC :
Authorities identified the two men as Jeffrey Reynolds and Mark Kennedy, both 44.Details of the contractors' deaths remain unclear, but they were not on watch and did not die while performing a security operation, Tom Rothrauff, the president of the Trident Group, said. He said an initial assessment of the scene did not suggest any foul play.
Tragic. (and mysterious)
Glen Doherty is the sniper who shot the Somali pirate who was holding Captain Phillips hostage. (According to stuff I read previously)
The movie was true Captain Phillips was taken hostage on the life boat that is what the movie is based on.
USCG will be investigating. I don’t believe requests for privacy by the company or family has a bearing on what is released.
