Joe Bob (Briggs) sez check it out. [she's smokin' hot]
The half time of the super bowl was a big disappointment. The first guy on was not understandable so I got busy with something else. With my hearing being destroyed in Viet Nam these new people are not understandable and the music sucks but thew oldies still have words I know and understand. You do not like oldies and I do. It is normal for sane people to disagree.
excellent.. thanks for the link. I’ve seen them twice now at the Largo at the Coronet.... just amazing.
You and I both agree that the current "top 40" music absolutely blows chunks.
Where we differ is that I have found a lot of contemporary artists who write gorgeous melodies and thoughtful lyrics, and perform them with consummate musicianship.
If you choose to ignore them, well, that's what makes horse races. Your loss....
In the meantime, start by checking out the David Wax Museum and Red Wanting Blue.
I had thought about putting Lucinda on my list, maybe next time. Have you heard her first album “Ramblin’”?? All covers of ‘20s and ‘30s blues, stripped down arrangements, super fine stuff. Wish she would do a little more of that material in her live shows.
Curse you, cat. You know what's gonna be stuck in my head the rest of the day??
W.E. Whitmore..., true musician.
Check out these pipes...., on guitar.

I hadn’t listened to her in years. There is a new Tom Petty Buried Treasure channel on the satellite radio and he has played a few of her tracks. They are just good.
Here comes emergency help: “Someone left a cake out in the rain, I don’t think that I can take it, ‘cause it took so long to bake it...”
(For extra soft pillows in the emergency vehicle, please finish the above lyric.)
Rosanne Cash’s new album “The River and the Thread” is probably the best of her career. Spotify has it.
You win the thread. I’m not worthy....
The popular music on the radio has almost always sucked. Who the hell listens to the radio anymore?
Just found these guys the other day. Fantastic soul/blues/funk stuff.
Or new bluegrass:
Trampled by Turtles-Wait So Long
I See Hawks in L.A. - Good and Foolish Times - Live at McCabe's
And if you like Dropkick Murphy, check out The Real McKenzies:
Dave Alvin and Boz Scaggs do “Midnight Dream”. The album is called The Man of Somebody’s Dreams: A Tribute to the Songs of Chris Gaffney (2009). . .

My favorite Hacienda Brothers song, “Soul Mountain”. Chris Gaffney lead vocal - the album is called Arizona Motel (2008). . .

Their music blends soul, blues, rockabilly, country, Tex-Mex and rock and roll. They themselves call it “Western Soul”.

Maria Schneider. Nice...17 piece band :)
I have bookmarked her Events page for future tour dates.
Holy catz, she’s fantastic! Thanks for the recommend.
What a fun idea for a ping list, even if you get a lot of drunken cat calls to play “Freeee Bird!”
I wasn’t familiar with Dave Alvin, and now I’ve learned I like him a lot. Thanks!
Yes, please add me to your ping list.
