I enjoyed the whole thing. I respect the artistry of the Russian people. Very good extravaganza, as it was supposed to be. I just hate that I have to watch it on nbc, a station I haven’t watched in years, and won’t again after the Olympics.

I think they should wump up The Russian Hymn. I like that better.

I actually thought this was pretty creative. I loved the ballet.

I did not like China’s at all. Very intimidating.

Not one mention that I heard of the torch’s history. Its flight aboard ISS certainly would have merited notice.

The Firebird Suite is my favorite all-time Classical work, and how perfect it played as the flame was lit.

I agree. I would have enjoyed it much more if I didn’t have to listen to the official spokespersons of the Obama administration.

As if Russians are the only corrupt people.

Bet they’ll be as much corruption in Brazil, but the press won’t let that see the light of day.

I had a friend whose wife was Cuban, she came to the US as a 10 year old in 1961 (I think) and she would literally spit on the ground if Castro’s name was even mentioned.

Yea I’m getting that vibe from all the whiny ass libtard comments on places like HuffPo as well. Putin embarrassed Obama and of course he’s not pro queer so here come the intolerant queens of so-called tolerance.

One of my favorites as well. I used to follow Drum and Bugle Corps, and some of the Junior Corps really knocked that one out of the park!

Particularly the Anaheim Kingsmen in 1974...:)

I never said they were the only ones but the price tag of these games is ridiculous. Vancouver cost something like 7 billion or so and to jump to 50 or 80 in less than 4 years does raise an eyebrow or two. If anything one would think costs in Russia would be lower than in a western country.

Communist China did way better than communist Russia

You're comparing Summer Olympics to Winter Olympics (although I preferred the relatively low-budget Russian Opening Ceremony).

There is something vaguely perverse about that image...
