People think that cannot happen here. I am sure that there were people in Russia before the communists took over who couldn’t have imagined what would happen and never thought it would happen there, either.

The floor graphics are cool from the overhead view and that’s it. Viewing it from the stands or floor level you see NOTHING!

So far this is the worst opening ceremonies ever. Total yawnfest !

That's what the Cubans told us in the 60's in Gitmo.

Yes, they did.

Why am I thinking of Pee Wee Herman with the music they are playing?

I am a child of the cold war. I cowered under my desk.

Even then I felt a connection to the Russians. I have never been afraid of the Russian people.

Obviously I’ve been afraid of the people in power there but these are my cousins.

So are they going to pay tribute to the collapse of the USSR?

ooh, when the Soviet Union broke up, according to Putin, Russia "lost" a lot of Russians [according to the announcers]

Hey Vladi, here's a middle finger to you.

I believe that's what the release of the red balloon symbolized. Obviously they aren't going to portray it the way we saw it.

Yeah, it was the government of Russia we feared. To their credit, at least like us, they desired to live and I think that in part was way World War III never happened like we thought it would. We have enemies now that see an honor to die in fighting.

Come to think of it, my TV I'm using is a Cold War relic. B-)

I’m 60. Who remembers this? If you said Russia a person of power immediately corrected you that you meant Soviet Union.

We used to have a TV like that. It lasted nearly 14 years.
