I’ve got some Russian friends and we like to coordinate our historical perspective.

Its funny that they knew very little about the nukes being used on Japan but learned that Japan surrendered to avoid a fight with Russia.

They kinda glossed over the whole Communist era.

You’d think they’d make a passing reference to “The Great Patriotic War.”

What are the ghost horses supposed to represent? The floor graphics are pretty cool.

I’m guessing winter, since the sun is spring they said.

Interesting, the Soviets did experiment with holographic movies as far back as the 1960’s and even at that times, they made the first computer animated cartoon.

What was that old proverb about the downside of defeating your enemies?

I remember going to see the Soviet Hockey Team play the NHL All Stars in Quebec City at the Colisee...during winter carnival.

It was bitter, Bitter, BITTER cold, something like 20 below zero, and we were stupid enough to drive up there in a Winnebago!

We went to the traveling NHL Hall of Fame, and Gump Worsley was signing autographs at a table. He looked at us, and said “Did you guys wait in line to come in?”

When we said yes, he shook his head in disbelief and said “You guys are frikking crazy.”

It WAS cold. I remember every single person in line was jumping up and down, and we looked like bulky prehistoric beasts with clouds of vapor coming out of our mouths.

We put the special antifreeze in the Winnebago toilet like the guy told us, but it froze solid as a rock. He told us NOT to let it freeze, no matter what...

:)

That’s a ‘troika’. It’s a way that Russians used to hitch up their horses to go quickly over distance in the snow. Very symbolic for Russians.

This stadium kinda reminds me of a cross between Cowboys Stadium and Qwest Field. This stadium has a more pronounced arch but doesn’t appear to be any higher than either CS or Qwest. Never the less, it’s a nice looking facility.

The ‘88 Calgary Olympics were the best ever, IMHO.
