Ralph was also a US Navy pilot in the pacific theater during WWII. 1943-45. RIP Ralph.

What must it be like for an old player to not be able to play anymore?

I’m 64 and still in “practice shape” as opposed to playing shape. But it’s enough to still be able to throw and hit. And I love to pitch, albeit if I hit 60 these days, well.... But man, to yet paint those corners....

RIP Ralph Kiner. Hopefully I might work my way into a pick-up game in Heaven with you and some of the guys.

They got of course Henderson, but also Pat Zachry, Doug Flynn and last but not least Dan Norman. I remember Norman taking a fly ball off the head in the Astrodome in rightfield. Had to be the worst fielding outfielder ever.

I was a little boy in the early 70s, listening to Ralph on my transistor radio tucked under my pillow after bedtime. It seemed like magic to me, following the Mets play far away in the dark of night. It is such a sweet memory. Thanks Ralph

I remember Kiner’s Corner. Also whenever the Mets won he’d do the “Happy Recap”. I grew up listening to him, along with Lindsey Nelson and Bob Murphy doing the play-by-play. RIP, Mr Kiner.
