Was in Puerto Rico a couple of times last year, and many “facilities” have signs to not flush toilet paper.

Well, I seem to remember that when Atlanta hosted the Olympics, visitors had to use port-a-potties. About the same thing.

This is common everywhere there are septic tanks. Really?
My father's house went from a two seater out house, to in door plumbing and a septic tank in 1950.
The paper was always flushed and every 5-7 years a honey dipper came and cleaner the septic tank.
He was forced to go to a municipal water/sewage plan in the mid-eightys and forgo his free well water and septic tank system.
Every time he got a water/sewage bill, he bitched about the rotten gummint.

Maybe things are different there, but I once had occasion to flush a Soviet toilet. It went off like a rocket powered Martin Baker ejection seat. Something like 600 gallons of water blew through it in about 3 seconds. It actually kinda scared me for a second. It felt like it might suck me right in. "BA-WOOOOSH! Now that's a MAN'S flush."

Some very simple questions (I went to public schools) - If you can’t touch the water:
- How do you take a shower / bath?
- How do you brush your teeth?
- What do they use to wash vegetables?
- What do they use to cook with?
- What’s the purpose of the water?
