According to BLP's Mills himself, they are totally different. CF is (or are) nuclear reactions, BLP's (according to Mills theory) involves electron transitions to "lower than ground state".
Which, if correct, says that Rossi's system should give much higher power density, when fully perfected.
“***Today a cold fusion product was sold. Controlled-hot-fusion con men are still saying their stuff wont work for another 50 years.”
Today, a potential cold fusion product was sold. It has no currently useful application.
This article isn’t about hot fusion. Is your premise that theory A isn’t viable, therefore theory B is?
Do you consider it "pimping" when Null and Void posts on 3D printers?? Or when Mark Twain posts on the Second Amendment?? Or when SunkenCiv posts on ancient civilizations??? Or when NeverDem posts on any of his ping-list topics??
Cold Fusion is a topic Kevmo and I are interested in. Why is our interest "pimping" and theirs not??
Of what use is ANY invention at the R&D stage?? Or, to quote Ben Franklin...."Of what use is a new-born baby?"
Apparently Industrial Heat thinks the promise is sufficient to spend big bucks on it after due diligence.
Too bad "hot fusion" can't match that track record for time to market....they've been selling an R&D product for fifty years and gotten a lot more ($160B) to do so.
Actually, the reverse is true. "Theory A" (cold fusion) is working, and "Theory B" (hot fusion) is failing. And that IS "QED".
And pointing out that failure is perfectly reasonable.
Pointing out the failure of a separate theory is useless. It proves nothing about the other.
Kevmo was talking of a viable product, not R&D. Which is it?
And I never said it did. But it is legitimate to point up the success of one and the failure of the other, given the VAST expense of the one failing and the fact that the people badmouthing the successful effort are also the ones pushing the failing one.
"Kevmo was talking of a viable product, not R&D. Which is it?"
Both, of course. The current iteration is a viable success (product) of the R&D process. Or don't you believe that intellectual property is a product?? Given that billions of dollars change hands every year for licenses to IP of various sorts?
The Industrial Heat investment is a really big deal for Rossi. The Naysayers are out in full force this morning. They don’t even consider that it might be possible.
Many scientific discoveries were impossible... Until they weren’t and became established science.
The blacklight people have a big demo nest week. It’s like their is a race to market.
I think this time we’ll find out if this stuff is for real or not.
All that was sold was some worthless IP and a worthless license. What you won't see sold is a working, verifiable cold fusion device.
It takes less than a 100 bucks to form a corporation and about the same to put a release on PR Newswire. Yet there is more than one FReeper being suckered in by it.
Yeah, that’s what I thought, too.
Time for you to put your money where your mouth is and get rich.
It's called "whistling past the graveyard". There was a comment on another forum this morning to the effect that even "Maryugo" (who is THE quintessential skeptopath on pretty much every LENR-related forum...ubiquitous and negative). And even "she" has been forced grudgingly say that it "might" be real.
The fat lady is tuning up to deliver the swan song (or perhaps in this case, the "seagull song") to the skeptics.
I agree completely.
LP’s (according to Mills theory) involves electron transitions to “lower than ground state”.
If true that is similar to the research that the Government has been doing with Hafnium.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hafnium_controversy
They are trying to build bombs and create aerial drones that can fly for months/years at a time. Reference the Popular Mechanics article years ago.
DARPA has spent millions trying to develop this technology.
It’s amazing how much is attributed to Rossi. Surely, the greatest con man in history, who can outwit 7 independent scientists without even being in the room. He also can separate highly educated investors from their money, he can pull the wool over the eyes of various reputable scientists like Focardi, even with a criminal record. He can anticipate what scientists would test for and modify his rig accordingly. Surely the greatest magician in history as well.
But what do I attribute to Rossi? That he got lucky, that he needed Focardi to further his research because he was too dim to penetrate the theory; that he was a terrible demo artist, even to the point of inviting charges of cheating; that he’s mercurial and a crappy scientist, and a man of questionable character.
Occham’s Razor points to the answer here. But the skeptopaths are so wrapped around the axle that they cannot reason inductively.
How does Rossis technology differ from the Blacklight technology.
***I’m not all that sure. I have been mostly ignoring Blacklight because he’s been selling vaporware for 2 decades. Randell Mills is a tricky one because he’s a brilliant theorist with a Harvard MD background. Significantly, he made progress in the 1990’s in Nickel/Hydrogen.
Rossi got ahead of everyone else because he split H2 gas into monoatomic hydrogen before loading up his Nickel lattice, and that led to far more replications than anyone else prior to him. So he’s a tinkerer. And he’s had time to tinker more than anyone else.
Mills has a published theory; Rossi doesn’t. But Mills’s theory has a self-defeating problem. The place to look where the rubber meets the road for BlackLight Power is to find nuclear ash.

Finding even tiny amounts of radioactive ash is absolutely devastating to
Mills in the IP arena. It can, and will, cost him millions, possibly
billions . and he has dug himself into a hole on the issue - since it keeps
him from actual 3rd party independent testing without incredible NDAs. There
is not a single true replication of his work without these restrictions.

***IP is a product. No one is buying hot-fusion IP.
It has no currently useful application.
***And where is my hot-fusion jet pack?
This article isnt about hot fusion. Is your premise that theory A isnt viable, therefore theory B is?
***What is theory A and what is theory B? Controlled-hot-fusion has been 50 years on the horizon for 50 years. Cold fusion is selling IP. TODAY.
The blacklight people have a big demo nest week. Its like their is a race to market.
***At this point my hunch is that Blacklight is being rushed to show something because they are being beaten by Rossi demos. Rossi is sucking the air out of the room. But there will be a huge IP/Patent battle on the horizon, so Blacklight needs to position themselves to get a piece of that pie. Like Glenn Curtiss, who infringed on Wright brothers’ patents right & left, he got what he wanted when it was all hashed out — even when it was proved that he was flat wrong.
What you won’t see sold is a working, verifiable cold fusion device.
***What an amazing demonstration of faith when the scientific facts on the ground state otherwise.
Time for you to put your money where your mouth is and get rich.
***I agree. I’m looking for all kinds of places to capitalize. There aren’t that many. One thing I’m contemplating is to short oil futures.
