Most of what people love about the Fifties -- Elvis, James Dean, Brando, rockabilly, beatniks, Kerouac and Ginsberg, hot rods, motorcycle gangs, etc. -- comes from the rebels and misfits and nonconformists of the era.
Well, okay, the cars and tailfins were pretty mainstream, and some people do really love suburbia or early TV, but the Fifties many people lived aren't cult objects in the same way that the fringe culture of the era is.

Beautiful clothes no tattoos or piercings. Women were much better looking during that era.

I never cared for the furniture/furnishings of the 50’s/early 60’s - too cold and un-inspiring to me, but my “parents liked it, so much they carried it at least into the late 70’s!
I prefer 30’s and 40’s style furniture, etc. That’s the time frame I like, unless we start talking Renaissance era.....”
I graduated high school in 1953, and we had that 30’s/40’s furniture! Great stuff. Better than what I see in the pics on this thread. A couple piece I still have.
The cars from the 50’/60’s era were/are great! And some are well preserved today. Go for a pretty penney in the Classic Auto Auctions too...

4/9 is my nephew and daughters birthday.Well, I'd like to believe they are in good company. I don't know what year it happened, but if was in the fifties, I would think they look at things the same way I do.

I believe it. hahaha
Razors are another place that they’ve ‘improved’ them so much to ensure we keep buying more and more at higher and higher prices.
I wonder what percentage of a family budget went towards razors in the 50’s compared to the percentage today.

A lot of hispanics into it today. But there are black, asian (especially but not exclusively Japanese), indian, and white rockabillies.
As performers, pinups, and fans.

British rockabillies. Hanging the confederate flag as a sign of rebellion. I thought the US flag was that to the British...

Today everything from cellphones to Obamacare have one thing in common, planned obsolescence.
