That is what I like about some of the Russian red/black dots.
When the battery goes the black dot is still sighted.

Practice both ways, just in case. I learned instrument flying with a full IFR panel, but we always practiced partial panel, too. Things break.
“Murphy” was a grunt before he became a pilot!

Lets just say, it depends on circumstances.A very well put, very diplomatic answer. And exactly what I was thinking. The ATF will never allow this technology to be available to the general public.
