I apologize for that post.
Lots of things going on and my spring was wound up tight.
I’m very cynical today.
I would say I felt cynical but I don’t have feelings.
The front of that ‘71 Lincoln looks like it could have ripped up hedgerows after the Normandy invasion.
The performance on a Gen 2 Cayman S isn’t far from the new Stingray, the handling because of the mid engine and Porsche engineering is beyond description - especially when you’ve got mean twisties with bumps - and it’s more fun to drive than the Stingray.
I got my ‘11 S from a professor at Univ. of Alabama (used to like them until they got arrogant - glad OU is whipping them now) as he & wife bought dream home and had to sacrifice their 4-wheel toys. His fall-back? An S2000 with 14k mis. I steered him to it. He was considering 3 other cars, and I assured him the S2000 was the one to get and the others would be mistakes. But he’s had a hard time dropping from the great torque of the 320hp Cayman.....my only problem with the S2000 is the high revs you have to maintain - and once you’ve driven a Cayman S, there’s no going back.....if you haven’t driven one, you need to.....Car & Driver rated the ‘14 Cayman/Boxster #1 car for the year....
Has there been any real world speedway testing on it at all?
At 350 mph, I'll guess there must be a couple dozen ways to die, including just going airborne.
There's another wonderful video on that page if you haven't seen it.
A beautiful Asian girl in a two piece bathing suit rides around with a guy driving a 900HP Evo.
She climbs into the car at the 44 Second mark.
Don’t know anything at all really about it.
I was in high school when Bill Cosby bought that Cobra.
If my memory can be trusted, “Car and Driver” had Cosby and the car on their cover.
YES!
That little Blue one,,,
Seeing it on the road just says
“Drive Me Hard!”
Not offended; I had just always heard that it was a toilet seat, but that might be the cleaned up version.
Hope you find some peace as the holidays wind down.
Both the Cayman and the Boxster are so balanced due to its mid engine, they have to have a detuned engine so it doesn’t eclipse the 911. I love them both but I also love the 911. I’d like to see Porsche put the 911 GT3 motor in a Cayman or Boxster. The prices for used ones are actually reasonable, even for the 911 unless you’re talking about the top of the line one.
I’ve been a Vette fan all my life but I’m slightly concerned about the new one. I don’t like the tail light treatment, looks like a Camaro and the front looks unfinished or as you said, in your face.
Overall though, it does look OK and I like that they brought the Stingray name back. The new interior, the subject of all the euro snobs, is much improved. I got tired of hearing how America can’t produce a decent interior and really, the only problem with the previous Vette’s interior was not so great seats and material quality for a car that goes for over $50k which Chevy has appeared to address.
I do have a problem with a government motor’s vehicle though. Maybe wait a year to get a used one at a decent price. The convertible looks good but getting a used one is a crapshoot as the previous owner either babied the car or thrashed it, seems to be no in between.
Looks like they hosed the Pagani Zonda’s greenhouse and the Lambo Veneno front and rear end.
Is it using the Bugatti W16? 5000HP? I saw some show that said the Bugatti W16 while producing 1001HP at the wheels, really produces over 3000HP when you add in the heat it gives off although you could do that to any engine to bump up the numbers.
Back looks unfinished and what tires are going to allow it to go over 300mph?
I wonder if it is a non running buck?
Those rear, batmobile turbine exhausts are laughable, that’s what makes me think it doesn’t run or at least drive.
I have no idea!
I could afford a 911 but just much prefer the Cayman S. When I had my ‘08 base Cayman and was looking for my S in Meteor Grey (same on both), the dealer kept trying to put me in a 911. No thanks. I’ve driven them (not a GT3). The Cayman was designed to fit me and my driving desires perfectly - I’d rather have it than any 911 or supercar. An “in-your=face” car conflicts with my character & temperament. I want nothing that draws attention to me.
Of course you are right on why Porsche will never put a turbo or more powerful engine in the Boxster or Cayman. They’d lose sales from the 911.
320hp is all I need in a 3,000 lb. car and I have no use for more....
You nailed it on the new Stingray on every point.
