I haven’t been to Chicago since 89. Never had a reason to go to Detroit and I will not look for one. The Brits are boring in my opinion. I made a simple comment and it seems to be a big deal. Let’s just drop it. We probably agree on more than we disagree. Due to a career change in the mid 90s I no longer have to travel for business. So I go to places that are interesting to me. Have a good evening.

Greenwich is neat, in a lot of ways, the long climb up the hill to the Royal Observatory, Eels at Goddards Pies (I think British food has a bad rap, that's undeserved, and I've eaten more parts of more animals than most people, but cold jellied eels are one of the only things I couldn’t finish). I just though it was a long haul via the DLR, to recommend for a one day in Lond trip.

Indeed.

Good thing you did not quote Dr. Watson from the first Sherlock Holmes story, A Study in Scarlet:

I had neither kith nor kin in England, and was therefore as free as air—or as free as an income of eleven shillings and sixpence a day will permit a man to be. Under such circumstances I naturally gravitated to London, that great cesspool into which all the loungers and idlers of the Empire are irresistibly drained. There I stayed for some time at a private hotel in the Strand, leading a comfortless, meaningless existence, and spending such money as I had, considerably more freely than I ought.” A Study in Scarlet, ch. 1 (1887)

London is my favorite city - have visited it perhaps a dozen times over the last 40 years and always find something new to see.

Lots of good suggestions already. Be prepared to realize how many Arabs/Muslims have taken over London. I was there about 6 months ago. Absolutely fantastic Indian Food. Nary a British pub with Fish and Chips to be found. They still exist but not near as many as there used to be.
Are you staying at the airport(LHR)?

Or Kipling in “Something of Myself” - staring at his reflection in the fog-darkened windows.
