We avoid fast food restaurants, EXCEPT for Chick-fil-A. They seem to hire respectable employees and have invested managers on every shift.
While driving from California to Idaho my Mom and I needed to eat. I very rarely eat at fast food places and maybe this is why.
A conversation I had with a Jack in the Box employee yesterday:
ME: “I’d like 2 chicken strips and 2 cokes.”
HER: “There are 4 chicken strips in a box.”
ME: “Oh sorry, I’ll have 2 ORDERS of chicken strips.”
HER: “Do you want 4 or 2”?
ME: “2 orders”
HER: “But there are 4 in the box”.
ME: “OK let me try it this way... my mother is with me and she wants the chicken strips and I’d liked the chicken strips too.”
HER: “2? there are 4 in the box.”
ME: “You are making this harder than it needs to be. Tell me this: what do I have to say or do to get 2 orders of chicken strips”?
HER: “There are 4 in a box will that be enough?”
ME: “I see, let me put it this way: we’ll eat somewhere else.”
She gives me a puzzled look and I walk away still hungry thinking I’ve just taken a part in an Abbott and Costello routine or had a brief encounter with Forrest Gumps sister.
Some times you just can’t cure stupid.
As someone who has done extensive work in Wendy’s (not food, I am an outside support vendor for POS)..
No they don’t.
The grill is packed full of cooking/cooked burger patties waiting for someone to order them.
we just got 2 here. before you had to go to the college campus (U of M) to have chick-fil-a...
I tried one of the new ones. not as good as the college one..
I guess I better give them another shot.
Through there are still regular sprinklers in the ceiling (pretty far away from the food) most commercial kitchens have some type of compressed gas extinguisher system like halon. Much better to put the fire out on the grill long before a sprinkler head is activated covering everything in 15’ with black rusty water. The smoke detectors just set off the fire alarm and I’ve seen them go off a fair amount in kitchens but it would take more than a cigarette or a blunt unless you were blowing it directly into the detector.

Chick-fil-A salads are great...fresh and good variety. The iced tea is freshly brewed...they even sell it by the gallon (for parties, etc). Their fries are addicting, but I completed my own 12 step program, a few years ago, to stop ordering them ;-)
Groundhog Day?
In college in the late 1970’s we would sell a “green pizza” from the Pizza Hut delivery.
It was a small cheese pizza with, uh, an ounce of pot. Cost - $50.
Mods are never wrong.
either spudville was experiencing, “did it post or did it not”. Or Groundhog day. I just posted the post to be snarky.
ah HAH, a catsup man.
Did ya know the Chinese crew piloting perfectly good Boeing 777, crashing it into the sea wall in broad day light in SF, killing 3 or 4 injuring dozens, were not even drug tested...
Yet those at Chicken Licken and Homeboy Depot are tested randomly and after accidents.
If the employees unionize, they will get a .10/hour raise, pay $500 a year in union dues, while the union bosses get HUGE raises.
I wish there were What-A-Burgers back east. Carl’s Jr./Hardees is good. In-N-Out too.
When I was in Jacksonville, TX I would get WhatABurgers... and amazingly their salads... the plain jane side garden salads... are excellent. Fresh..mixed greens... cherry tomatoes and lots of shredded cheese. I would get it with no dressing and just eat it with my hands... picking at it like a relish tray.
My exodus from fast food was much simpler.
About 25 years ago, I was almost done eating a Whopper when I noticed a big, black, coarse and kinky pubic hair baked into the roll.
Obvious entendres aside, it was the last fast food I ordered.
