My local computer guru’s store did it on her #1 HP w/ Win-8, and it works fine. Staples and Best Buy tech people said it couldn’t be done, but it’s worked.
Post #33 is her newest #2 HP lapper, which I’m going to do the same thing with, when she goes 100% to mac products.
I prefer PCs, but lappers are convenient for travel.
I have a main PC as my repository and I like to have it as clean as possible, meaning nothing added on to the OS. I am always concerned about 3rd programs on my main PC.
Now out of time, I had to do something(!) and had Amazon next day me one with Win 8, thinking if I hated it I could always load Win 7. I heard the stories, but really, "how bad can it be?"
Powered it up and became instantly frustrated, even angry. Grrrr...it's Vista déjà vu all over again...WTF happened to sanity at Microsoft?!?
Turns out, it's a bit more involved to get rid of Win 8 than I thought, but not impossible. Still...makes me wonder if I can get a desktop with Win 7 before they're all gone. I'm way behind as it is now and don't need another "fun" project.
Again, my thanks for starting this thread! I appreciate reading the tips on how to deal with it...while I plot and plan how to get rid of it.
Thanks for the advice!
Hardware is hardware is hardware, and Win-7 Pro 64x works on anything (HPs are what I’m using) Win-8 runs on.
When did a "program" become an "APPS"?
I would do a lot more cleanup of the thing, but the wife thinks I will break it. If it were mine I would go at it with a flame thrower.
More info on how to downgrade to Win-7: easier with Win-8 Pro which my sister’s HPs both had (1 st one)/have (next one).
