This was why the French were so hot under the collar to have Gaddafi killed.

The memorial was partly funded by the $170 million compensation package provided by the Libyan government. It doesn't look like a $170 million memorial to me but who knows how far they had to go to find those rocks and caravan them in.
I wonder how long it will be before the desert sand storms claim their work.

it’s on the story. 70 (or was it 80) kilometers.

I copied and pasted this 16°5152.87″N 11°5714.18″E in google maps. Keep going closer and closer and closer and you will see it.

I wonder how long it will be before the desert sand storms claim their work.Longer than you might think. I, personally, saw the tracks made by Lawrence of Arabia's forces in the desert of Saudi Arabia in 1981 almost seventy years after they were made...

How did you know that those were his tracks???
To: Uncle Chip
How did you know that those were his tracks???Alright, to be 100% honest, I'll amend my statement that the tracks I saw were purported to be what I stated. I also witnessed more than a few sand storms during my year in 'the Magic Kingdom', and the idea that a single sand storm, or even several could/would obliterate any sign of an event is purely Hollywood style fantasy. It would take decades, at a minimum to do so, with centuries or even longer being more likely...

The reason I ask is that they showed them digging the wreckage of this plane out of the sand that had covered it up.
