Ahh but that doesn't have the "G" word in it.
"SPB" - 4th stanza (my favorite)
O thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation.
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
Excellent choice. Of course I didn't learn of this song until I was in my 50's. Today's kids most likely have never heard of it or can relate to it - but they are going to find out, soon, through the school of hard knocks.
It was our National Anthem that she intentionally butchered: http://www.johnspeedie.com/healy/redglare.wav
I know an elementary school teacher who thinks “This Land is Your Land” is a “patriotic” song for her kids to sing.
“Either way, it takes about five minutes at the 7th inning”
Which is better than the hour and a half it takes to do the National Anthem if an R&B singer is doing it.
Oh, c’mon, you don’t count the others that cry out to the Lord when they’re having their stool pushed in ?
