Great minds think alike my FRiend!
That is such a great record. “Outta Space is probably my favorite tune on there. “She’s the Woman” “As Is”, “Bullethead”. “The Trouble With Never” is such a cool tune as well. “Stay Frosty”? Wow. The first time tracking through it all I could think was this album is bad ass and hard as hell.
One of my buddies from high school who also loves VH said he was worried before it came out that it would be the first one of their albums that was not great songs start to finish. Other than “Tattoo” (which I dont mind but is not close to the rest of the record) they kept the streak going in my opinion.
I have to agree. I didn't realize what we had.
Coldplay is one of the few newer groups that I like.
It is chilling. Merry Clayton's vocals fit in perfectly. There was a dark side to the sixties. "Gimme Shelter" and Black Sabbath's Paranoid marked the dark end of the decade.
Yeah!
(And what about the drumming on "Aja"?)
If i’m correct, in that particular lead, Clapton’s hands never move up and down the fretboard. He does it entirely from one spot. And it really does sound fantastic.
"Ahhh, Bach."
“I have to agree. I didn’t realize what we had.”
Thinking back during that time. Rumors, Hotel California,Van Halen, Zepplin (forget which one), Rolling stones(forget again) The Wall, just one after another great albums, no throw away songs on any of the records.
In mid-70’s I was 13 or 14yo and I rode with some friends to B’ham.(didn’t tell the parents) We went to the old Hollywood Country Club, it had closed and was a music venue. Anyway, there was a group playing called the Buckingham Nicks. Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Friggin great...I thought Stevie Nicks was about the sexist woman I’d ever seen. If you haven’t heard their self-titled album it’s worth looking up.
Appreciate your patience. Just a few memories from a middle aged man looking back at my youth. Wish I could do it all over again...
Wow! Great story!
LOL!!
Me, too. Other than Annie Lennox and some "best hits" compilations from the old days, Coldplay's last two CDs are the only rock albums I've acquired in years.
In 2012, readers crowned him the Greatest Guitarist of All Time.
The boy is good, but he can't shine the shoes of the "Greatest Guitarist of All Time".
