LOL One of the E-5's in my shop was the Work Center Supervisor an E-6 or E-7 billet. I got my Crow about 4 months before I started getting paid for it. Frocking I think it was called. MM's and all engineering ratings when I was in was a critical ratings as far as advancement and retention went. Two years after I got out and was considering going back in the jobs were filled. What a difference the 1980 election made LOL.

LOL sorry about that I forgot. My Bad. A friend of mine was an instructor out at Idaho back in the early to mid 80's. I think he dealt with the IC end of it.
After I got out a few years later I joined the Army NG for a year. You talk about service cultural shock??? LOL Worse thing was I went into an Artillery Unit. I just spent a good part of this morning at the local VA Audiology Clinic. Gee I wonder why LOL. What hearing the Navy didn't take the Howitzers did.

When the Navy decoms ships they often donate some portions of the hull or insides to other facilities like Great Lakes RTC/NTC or even a local reserve unit. The Island to my ship ended up like that donated to a Navy training school I think in the midwest. Idaho is the Nuke Propulsion Training Facility that likely was the factor for you. Oh and there's a huge Gemini ?? rocket standing at a rest area in Alabama believe it or not. I remember seeing it back in my trucking days.
