As was pointed out at the time of his election: The very fact that the Pope is a Jesuit is a sign of the Jesuits’ IRRELEVANCE in the Church today. If they actually wielded any “power” the Cardinals would not want a Jesuit Pope.
I have heard that argument, but I am still skeptical. I’ve read too much history to take such claims at face value. As I said earlier, where they are concerned, I’m wary.
I think your problem is you are reading HISTORY. In HISTORY, the Jesuits were the largest, most energetic, and most powerful religious order, for several centuries.
NOW, they are dying.
And my point is that this isn’t the first time they seemed to be dead or dying. Many believe that was a feint, so this may be as well. You can believe what you want. Regardless of what anyone else says or believes, I don’t trust the Jesuits. I don’t trust the Vatican, nor do I trust this new pope.
Just making a point, not saying you’re on any particular side.
Sorry should have been clear.
:D
No biggie. :-)
There’s no way they can fake the fact that they have almost no novices, and they are simply getting old, old, old, and dying.
