Pop Pop is a northeastern name for a grandfather. I had never heard it in my life (or Mom Mom) until we lived in PA. I even have a neighbor from PA who is “Mom Mom” and I smile when I think about how it is so commonplace in that area and not at all known down here. We usually hear names like: Nana, Grammy, Meemaw (which I don’t care for), or Grandma. My Mother is Nana, and her husband is Papa. My husband’s mother is Grandma Mary. His dad and step mother are burning in hell so we don’t call them anything. ;^)

crossing my fingers that the countertops will be done when i get home. the dogs are equally impacted by this renovation, they normally have the run of the middle floor but they can’t now when the working is going on bc they would be underfoot. so i either keep them in the study with me when i am working at home or we have them downstairs with us, which is where we are eating and hanging out in THE CAMP. i made a porkroast with bbq sauce in the crockpot yesterday along with cole slaw and chips and that was the first homemade meal i have made in 3 weeks. we have done rotisserie chicken with salad and vegetables on a few occasions, but that is largely it, it’s been eating out or carry out and we are tired of it!

LOL! we called my grandmother’s grandma. xsteen’s bf, who is from Newtown PA, so eastern PA, calls his grandparents Nana and PupPup. we laughed at first but now that we have me them, the names fit.

I don’t think I ever heard “Meemaw” until Sheldon Cooper came along.

Pretty much the tradition in the South was usually whatever the first grandchild called his or her grandparents. That is why Meemaw is fairly common here because it is so much like Mama. I only know one child my daughters age who calls her father Papa (poppa) but they are german so it might have something to do with that.

Haha you are right - I just saw that rerun the other day! But yes, it is very common in the south. My children’s stepgrandmother had a grandchild who began calling her meemaw and she wanted my daughter to call her that but since I detested the woman and didn’t want to do anything to please her my daughter came up with another name for her...for the few months the evil witch was even in my daughters life. But for those brief months it irritated the hell out of the old bat!

No, Annie is one of my 17 year old twins, Kali is her sister Allie’s daughter. Allie is thankfully several years older.

Kali’s mom is too young also, hasn’t finished college yet, but what are ya gonna do. She’s a really good mom, and super-hard working, so we got that going for us. Kali is very well trained, too. Starting to get some “terrible two’s” attitude, though. “NO!” and “STOP” are becoming a much bigger part of her vocab. Ugh.

Annie has really gotten into fishing the last couple years, and can outfish most of the guys around her that are her age. She’s at it all the time. She skips hanging out with fer fellow high school seniors to go fishing. Hopefully she already got her wild streak thing out of her system!

My cabinets are 12 inches deep. There is a 3/4 inch piece on the front that the doors are attached to. So, with the door closed there is about 12.5 inches of useable space.

I guess we were lucky to have had the deeper cabinets in the first place!
