Good for them — and Bo Porter has them on the right track.

They used to play in the Astrodome which was next to Astroworld.

As for all those bucks, they will eventually have to field a decent team, or nobody will tune in to the games, and the whole thing ends in tears.

It would only seem to work as a short term strategy. But where there are very loyal fans, the strategy could work long-term.

You mean you missed out on the classic 70s uniforms?

I have to admit I liked them back then, but I was 12 at the time and every team wore ugly polyester. Might as well go all out and get the loud colors too.

I have to admit, I liked those uniforms, and I still do. But it’s probably best that they stay in the ‘70s. Did Randy Johnson ever wear this uniform? Now that was one intimidating dude.

2013 ASTROS: BASEBALL'S WORST...I beg to differ - after a game the Phillies played against San Francisco a few weeks ago - Cole Hamels had the Phils ahead going into the 9th by 1-0 - Hamels had gotten the hit which scored the one run - "ace" reliever Jonathon Papelbon came in to save the game and promptly gave up two runs, but Philly still had an inning to bat in the last of the ninth, wherein their first three batters reached base through SF misplays, such as the pitcher slipping and falling down in trying to field a slow roller - so bases loaded and no outs in the last of the ninth - and Philadelphia couldn't score one run with those remaining three outs - final, SF 2, Philly 1 - the most inept team I can remember - good bye, Charlie Manuel......

I still have a Rusty Staub signed card.

Those Astros uniforms do look sharp, they must have looked very good in the 70s.

Why did they pick the name “Astros”? Sounds like a dog’s name.

The owners consulted with some of the astronauts at NASA about honoring them with the new "nickname" of Astros.

They should have kept their original name, the Colt 45’s.

The team was fighting a lawsuit with the Colt Firearms Company over the ballclub's use of the "Colt .45" name.

I wish they were in the AL East.

"Comcast SportsNet Houston pays the Astros $80 million."

I wonder if Comcast is losing money on the deal? I would think that only die-hard fans would be watching and the ratings are in the toilet. The next time around, Comcast better put in the A-team to negotiate price.

My sympathy on the Twinks. :( At least they aren’t the Evil Empire.

Thanks. I’m amazed that somehow, Ron Gardenhire still has a job.

Twins of the past were much to be admired. Kirby Pucket was first class all the way.
And thanks for sending us Big Papi. What an icon he has become here.
