That looks exactly like the small dome within the big dome in the series “Under the Dome”.........Coincidence?

Thanks Errant. Volcanic in origin.

A huge gas blowout was suggested and if stories about animals and people dying around the site are true poison gas could be the reason.

That wider view shows what might be potentially older eroded and overgrown craters.

Volcanic in origin. The rock debris is limestone. Ergo, not volcanic.

Could be, apparently it’s not so mysterious that there’s been a perceived need for more thorough study, that’s a little odd.

That’s not true, but it could be an artificial underground explosion; if that were the case though, it seems as if the locals would know that too.

Being limestone in that hilly terrain tells me that caves are pretty likely underneath it if it wasn’t heavily glaciated in the past.

Thats not true, but it could be an artificial underground explosion; Beg pardon, but limestone is sedimentary rock -- definitely not volcanic.
Igneous rocks -- such as obsidian, basalt and granite -- are proof of volcanic origin.

Limestone doesn’t go to the mantle, the igneous underlies everything.

Limestone doesnt go to the mantle, the igneous underlies everything. So, if this was a volcanic event, where is the igneous rock to serve as evidence?
Apparently, the entire cone is composed of limestone -- as is, no doubt, the surrounding geologic structure.
