It will be funny if this Open breaks all television viewing records with no Tiger.

They held a U.S. Open at a course where my dad had a membership in 1977.
1977 U.S. Open (golf)
I was 16. I was a standard bearer for two rounds. I saw Lou Graham's amazing hook shot on the 17th from the trees. And Hubert Green sinking the winning putt.
And I played the course a couple of days later. It is something, what they do to a course to get it ready for a major. On the greens, you might as well been putting on a sidewalk. The rough? Six inches of interlocking Bermuda grass that was like hitting out of Velcro.

Yes, I shudder to think what I might shoot on this course, set up as it is. It would probably cause me to give up the game.

I have golfed twice since playing on that course in high school. It was brutal.

He’s mister excitement. You just never know what’s gonna happen when he swings the club.... but I’m rooting for him!

And it was a kinda similar Open. Hubert Green won with a score of -1.

Two double-bogeys, a birdie, and an eagle. Long way home yet.

The media are the only people who really care if Tiger ever plays again or not.

Here comes the rain. Looking at the regional radar, it should move through quickly.

I played in a state amateur at Merion back in the 80’s. Shot 74-85 to miss the cut by a shot. Seems like I spent 2 5hours on 14-18 the second day. It was bizarre. I think I made 5 birdies and shot 85 that day.
