My history also goes back a long way, but I have to say we were a bunch of scoundrels and misfits, but we were Scots just the same, and proud of it, too. I cannot boast of anything but being a canny Scot.
& I thought our postal system was bad.
Well solve the puzzle. Did the letter confirm that the Knights Templar who had fled to Scotland after the order was surpressed in England helped Robert the Bruce win?
Methinks you repeat yourself.
I'm of Clan Drummond, so I ought to know.
What was the postmark date and was it sent through the US mail? I might just believe it took 700 years to deliver the letter.
Usually the latter, and often to other Scots.
I’m looking to see if there is a link between Clan Campbell and the Dunhams...
Apologies to the Campbells on FR.
That’s good reading. You have and illustrious ancestry.
LOL! Get one clansman holding forth about his linage and prowess, you get another 50 agathering to contend for his superior linage.
Black Knight of lorne was me g,g,g,g,g,granddaddy. Married King Edward’s widow. May have had reason for dispatching said king. Got away with it I suspect, or I wouldna be here.
We are very proud of it.
This all makes me think of my dad who is 92 now. When I was little he let his beard grow just a bit and it was coming in solid red. He said it was the Scot coming out. :)
I will research the name. Usually, a “name” before a name is an illegitimate heir of the person named: Fitz-Patrick means “the illigitimate offspring of Patrick.” It could also mean that for Kirkpatrick, though Kirk is “church.”
So it would be “Patrick from the church,” which may or may not mean that the child is illigitimate. But it also could mean the child from someone in the church...an Abbe, an acolyte, a prior...
As I said, I would have to research it.
Scots RULE!
Yes, we do.
:o])
You havent used the Royal Mail, have you?.
(actually I kid, the RM is excellent generally)
Great band. More a cult band in the US.
Well, there are worse. LOL
I know some Wallace’s that would piss on that letter.
Land, yes. Titles no.
