Having just read the speech, it’s not being reported very accurately and represents just another example of the media drawing out a few phrases to give a false impression of what was said. The primary thrust of the speech was the need for sustainable forestry, rather than attacks on corporations or sceptics, or anything of that nature, as the media is describing it.
It’s also a ‘government’ speech rather than a ‘personal’ one - members of HMG were in attendance, which means the speech would have had to be cleared (if not actually written) by civil servants to ensure it is compatible with government policy. People need to realise that constitutionally the Prince is often acting as a spokesperson for Her Majesty’s Government, and his speeches are not always his own.
