We've had a bit of a problem in years past with disruptors signing up just to disrupt, as disruptors often do.
Some argued for a 'pay to play' scheme, while others of us thought that a short probationary thing would suffice to keep most of the true loons away.
But I've been around here awhile, and this is the first time hearing of something like what you've described being actually in place.
Urge just a bit of patience on her, as this place is worth it.
(she could research that ^ while she's waiting ;-)
If that pi$$es her off, then she's in the right place. Tell her this old guy wouldn't mind if she toughed out the beginning.
I can’t say, because they added those restrictions after I became a member. Still, it is probably for her own good, because, if she’s new to conservatism, she could probably stand to read a lot more than she posts, for a few months at least. Lord help her if she unknowingly posts some wishy-washy stuff AND has a recent sign up date :)
“The first week I joined it took forever.”

Maybe new rules to control the trolls.
I have been here for 15 years.
Tell her no nasty posts on marked “ecumenical” threads or the Catholics will slap her upside the head so hard her teeth will fall out.
Oh, I hope not.
Aren’t we the cheery one.
Detox is “bollocks”?
Hmmmm......
Perhaps you should direct her to read the home page.
I checked it out again a few weeks ago, and didn't notice any new, or earth shattering rule changes.
This is a privately owned, not for profit, user supported website.
Whether your sign on date is 1997 or 2013, you are subject to the oversite, posted rules and sudden whims of owner management.
When in doubt, refer to the home page.
Or do what everyone else does: follow the rules, leave if you don't like the way we talk amongst ourselves, or find another website to post your comments. Most people who post here do more than talk...
“I have NEVER seen any delay in my posting.”
Yeah, they added the newbie restrictions recently, just a few years ago. So, you signed up early enough to get a pass :)
I really don't know, but I'm a fast learner. The first few months I was here I was suspended twice... for saying something mean (but true) about sandmaggo... err... muslims.
Things may have changed. On the other hand, in Sept. 2001 I was the first to post an comprehensive article about the then little known al Qaeda.
Additionally, under NO circumstances should she ever ping Arthur McGowan !
Agreed. And knowing when and when not to try that is the difference between a class of '98 and a class of '08. :^)
It’s temporary. All the posts are reviewed, and the other account functions deactivated, until, I suppose, a mod confirms you are not a troll, or you hit a certain post number.
Probably new rules. I’ve only been since Oct 2010 (I think)
When in a sticky spot, feigning ignorance with the assistance of pancake bunny always works:

Go to the Drudge Report. Post stories that are three or four days old. Create a blog. Create a ping list to your blog that consists of really old news that broke on FR a month ago. Never actually read FR before posting ancient news.
The cheery folks also left a long time ago. I missed the train.
Hey, thanks for reminding me. The sign-up anniversary's coming up in a few weeks, and I need to write something up. If I can remember anything. Clinton was being impeached or something.
