You are in my thoughts and prayers, Patti.
Please know that we are here for you.

That's okay, Amy - call me anything, but just don't call me late for dinner!

Fully Equipped

January 7, 2013

Karl Elsener, a Swiss designer of surgical equipment in the 19th century, worked for years on perfecting a military knife. Today his Swiss Army Knife is associated with excellence in blades and a variety of utilities. One model includes knife blades, a saw, scissors, a magnifying glass, a can opener, a screwdriver, a ruler, a toothpick, a writing pen, and more—all in one knife! If you are out camping in the wild, this one item can certainly make you feel equipped for survival.

We need something to equip us to survive spiritually in this sinful world. God has given us His Word, a kind of spiritual knife for the soul. Paul writes: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

The word translated equipped means to “furnish or fit completely.” How does the Bible equip us for life’s journey? It provides spiritual truth in doctrine; reproof in showing our imperfections; correction by revealing our sinful failures; and instruction in living a righteous life. There’s not a more valuable tool than God’s Word to make us fully equipped for spiritual survival and personal growth.

Lord, thank You for equipping us with Your
inspired Word. You’ve given us the tools we
need to live for You. Help us to take time to read
it and to follow what You tell us. Amen.
The Bible contains the nutrients we need for a healthy soul.

Read: 2 Timothy 3:14-17

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God . . . that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. —2 Timothy 3:16-17

Everyday Amy! That was my promise and you know I enjoy posting ODB. I go out of my way to make sure I do. One day while on the road in Ohio, I didn’t have internet access in the morning, I drove to a Dunkin Donuts where they had WiFi and posted from the parking lot.

Meg, I enjoy your daily openings, you post some great pictures and I know some are not easy to find. We are in deep winter here, like the frozen tundra. I am personally ready for Spring but my kids aren’t... : )

Scarlet Dreams

There is a promise in the sight,
Of redbirds moving ‘round in flight.
Their brilliant colors clearly state,
This frozen land is not our fate.

There will be thawing coming soon,
A glacial creeping toward June.
When this bright plumage may seem bland,
As flowers fill a fertile land.

But for the moment all is stark,
A brilliant day turns crisply dark,
And only wind sings mournful dirge,
Of having lost its vernal urge.

Beneath a coverlet of white,
The same bold striving senses night,
And slumbers onward snug in bed,
While scarlet dreams flash overhead.

” ... But along with the hard work, they took time to seek the Lord through prayer and fasting (13:2-3).” ...

What ever happened to fasting? Jesus speaks of it and did it (for 40 days) just after his baptism.

The only people I have heard mention ‘fasting’ is the ‘New Age affectation-anecdotals.’?’ They may be doing it for health purposes more than for clearing the path to communication with God. Purity.

It is Biblical and there is no reason other than it is difficult to do ... for not doing so, especially in times of great need, healing, direction, repentance, mercy, and praise to our Lord and Savior, help us Lord, In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We are to become in the image of Jesus, our redeemer. Some healing could only be performed in response to prayer and fasting.

I’m glad Linda found her some playmates. Whats a dog’s life without other doggies to play with and smell each other a thousand times....LOL!! If you don’t pass the smell test, you’re really in trouble. Hi Linda! Play hard, doggie!

I just now got to see that chicken piccata and it sure does look yummy. I may have to get a recipe for that one. The capers make my mouth water! I am looking up recipes now! Thank you, yorkie!

~Good Afternoon To Amy's Place~
I am enjoying several Cardinals at the feeder. No snow but it was a chilly 24 this morning.
I'm Ready For Spring!

Those cardinals should migrate to Florida, and fly home in the spring, like the smart little robins.

I remember celebrating each spring in Boston, on the DAY OF THE FIRST ROBIN I would spy! It was an EVENT!

I was honestly quite surprised she was able to keep up with the greyhounds.

The greyhounds’ owner said they were deliberately running slow so she could keep up. If that is the case,m they are extremely lovely, sociable animals!

What do you do when your only daughter starts running with a fast crowd?

I have Cardinals year round..I see Robins only in fall, winter and early spring.
One year flocks of Robins stripped every red berry in the neighborhood from the trees and bushes..They were migrating and very hungry.
They will eat ripe chinaberries..One year I went down in the ravine behind my house..sat by the little creek and quietly watched the Robins eat and drink..

My niece once owned rescue greyhounds when she lived in Florida..She said they were the sweetest dogs she ever had.
