How about this claim you are illegal and buy your own damn insurance, not to protect you (no one cares) but to protect the other people you are in an accident with.
Stop lying to your dad, stop driving illegally and when you run away to Mexico...get ready they don’t deal kindly with law breakers.

I agree.
He most likely would not abandon you when you were dying.

Since you have received numerous responses to your question(s) from “the smartest people in the world”, have you been persuaded one way or another as to how you will ultimately proceed?

I am 50/50 on the Mexican thing right now

Yes they are.

So you feel you aren't responsible?

You are crazy to go to Mexico especially without a license.

I remember going to Matamoros, Tamaulipas in the mid 1980's and had to show my license going in and out.

You should be more worried about getting back into the States without ID>

That is a joke, right?

I spent a ton of time in Mexico in the eighty’s.
I always had my papers in order was always polite and always aware.

I don’t think I would go there now.

I’d feel safer in the UAE or Cypress.

I think this guy just needs to get a Intl. drivers license,it might be the ticket for him. I was able to get mine in a amiable asian country, scored a 95 on the test and had the tester/observer asking how the hell I did that! several times actually!!
But I admit when I submitted the app. a large local bill may have been mixed up in my paperwork, I'm naturally messy, an I didn't speak the local language; which the test was in; but I did wow the driving test instructor(Sucking air he was!! )I drove it like I’sa a local, scared the crap out of him.
That said I've seen the value of having it and a good photocopy of it, manifest itself several times over in the construction and oil industries. Folks that been there recognize it and understand that you have been there, done that, and are probably not a screw-up. It's a foot in the door.

Why get an international license when you refuse to get one at home /S.

That said, international licenses are easy.
I looked into a motorcycle one for India.

I’m not sure why this thread has gotten so personal and nasty, but good luck to you anyway. My only advice is, stay the hell away from Mexico. It’s gotten considerably worse in the last ten years.

The last time I drove to Mexico and slept on a beach was 1997.

All hell has come loose down there since then, and you have been busted sleeping in cars here.

One of the last times I was there, me and a buddy got pretty toasty and were not going to cross the border like that so we found a place to flop.

Thank God we had the good sense to get a double.
At 4 AM the room was entered for robbery and worse.

A key was given to the bad folks.

We managed.

Ask dear old dad to sign over the title for the car that you “own” and then sell the car for cash since you can’t legally drive it anyway. Solves all of your problems.

I think the reasons the Thread got “personal and nasty” are because:

1. The original storyline changed and / or pertinent information was withheld by the Poster for well over 100 replies.

2. The Poster was asking advice concerning his illegal activity.

3. The entire Post was a waste of people's time.

4. Who the hell enters a Foreign Country driving a Car in someone Else's name without having a License to operate said vehicle?

5. I can't believe that you can't believe why this Thread got so personal and nasty. LOL

6. Maybe the Poster thinks it's April 1st.

.

Dude, whatever you are going to Mexico for, you can find it here. If you’re in love with Mexico and all things Mexican, move to a town in a border state.
At least there will be some semblance of law and order, and your life and property will not be in as much danger of being taken.

If you’re fleeing from the law or something, it won’t work.
They’ll get you eventually.
