No, you're not the only one. Doomsday Preppers is for ratings and makes everyone who partakes in prepping look like a fool. Yes, some shows have some good ideas, but driving through 2 major population areas to get to your hide site or having your family walk 15 miles through town after dark to a site is ridiculous.
Oh well, to each his own.....

But wait! Isn't government supposed to save us from every catastrophic disaster whether it be economic, environmental, earthquake, tsunami, fire or pestilence? I watched as Sandy survivors (who decided to stay and "ride it out") started screaming three days after the storm that government wasn't saving them! "I'm hungry! I'm cold!" "No one is here to help me!"
It's time for people to take responsibility for themselves. Especially when a major storm, such as Sandy, was shown to be a likely threat to the NE for 5.5+ days.
Every home should have food and water and a means for heat -- that will provide those things for seven to ten days or more.
