I agree with your point and sentiment, but would note for accuracy that Drakes Bay Oyster Company has been in business for ‘almost 80’ years, not a century.

I’d say it’s a pretty safe bet, don’t you? And if they didn’t, poor them to be surrounded by people who did...overwhelmingly.
Why jump to anyone’s defense from NYC or NY State.?
Between Schumer, Clinton, Gillibrand, etc., they have a lot to apologize for...
I continually apologize for the morons in my state of VA who voted in Warner and now, Kaine...disgusting!

And another thing..of COURSE I don’t know how they voted ....
Just like I don’t know how YOU voted...but assume you being on this forum voted a certain way...I could be wrong here, too...sheesh.

...er...maybe because I am a New Yorker and love my city. It's one thing to disdain Bloomberg, Schumer (Clinton is NOT a New Yorker) et al and quite another to take a shot at the owner of the Stage Deli.

I would be willing to bet Mr. Zolenge is a voting Democrat.

Should he have voted for Bloomberg?

Thanks alot Zer0. FUBO!

We should also thank the members of Congress that sent this pig to Zero's desk...and the people that voted for them. Denmocrats are domestic enemies.

As if the Carnegie Deli's lines to get in, aren't long enough.

[Katz’s Deli is still better than both of them...just not as convenient to uptown]

Now I remember some of your posts...I really liked them...
And I did express some sympathy for the owners’ plight but as a “ New Yorker”, you should recognize that the ills that befall you are solely due to the entitlement mentality, union strangle hold and the “I’m so damn rich, I don’t give a sh*t” attitude and predominate voting allegiances of the populace of your city. One doesn’t conduct commerce in a bubble. Again, if this deli is such a “victim of circumstances”, then how about one of your more illustrious and wealthy citizens help bail them out? Maybe you could start a deli charity, give Anna a call and see if she’d be “in”, as they say.

I doubt any extremely wealthy type would step in. One of the problems with charity is that it generally has to be a sexy cause. Old Jewish delis need not apply.

But, on the other hand, you only have to walk along - say, First Avenue, to see the incredible contributions to our fine hospitals made by the wealthiest of our city. Almost all of these people are Jews - some of the most generous people on earth.

And, always remember: Bloomberg was and will never be a born and bred New Yorker. He’s from puritanical Boston.

Bloomberg being a Bostonian makes a lot of sense...did not know that.
Please, Miss M, forgive my less than generous remarks abt the closing of the deli and NYC in general. Upon further reflection after our exchange, I feel the need to appeal to your innate conservatism to explain my reaction to the closing.
I have been so distraught since 6 Nov’s results that I really MUST be suffering from Obozo Derangement Syndrome..I find myself so disappointed in my fellow man that I cannot feel any sympathy for anyone who is a victim of this socialist regime. My immediate, un analytical, irrational response is they deserve it because some how everyone else is responsible for this idiot’s re-election...so to hell with them if they suffer the consequences. Totally wrong, I know but nevertheless, it’s my first reaction.
So again, please understand and forgive the snap judgement of these unfortunate owners...maybe they can move the works to Miami and begin to flourish again. Cheers and look forward to reading more of your posts...

We all tend to blame liberal enclaves for our troubles. The only thing I try to remember is that there are conservatives and Repubs scattered among these areas, clinging to the hope that their neighbors will one day wake up and do the right thing. Never happens, I’m afraid.

New Yorkers are some of the most provincial people on earth. They read one newspaper, watch one news channel, see one hit show a year and think they are the most enlightened people on earth. In fact, they are often abysmally ignorant! When I have one or two drinks at a party and I lose my temper at some lib, it’s amazing how dumb they turn out to be.

But, then again, most of these people donate huge amounts of money to some great causes. Go figure. But I doubt Anna Wintour will be trying to bail out The Stage Deli, lol!!
