Holy delusional crybaby Batman! I continued to read after he called Andrew Sullivan a “dissident conservative” to see just how warped he is. And his idea of converting blacks to Republicans by telling the the KKK were registered Dems is as stupid as his self prfessed enlightenment. Good riddance Bruce.

"Keynesian economics..."

See the problem is the modern day followers of John Maynard Keynes only use one side of his equation.

The idea was to take in the good times (high taxes etc.) and give back in the bad times (lower taxes subsidies of business and people etc.) to get over the hump until the bad times pass.

The problem with the modern day Kevnesians is its "Always the bad times" in their view. But that is the nature of Gub'ments and the very reason why John Maynard was full of shit!

“When you start considering Bruce Bartlett a fringe left-wing whackjob...”

Nobody said he was a “fringe left-wing whackjob”, just that he isn’t conservative. He says as much himself in this very article, when he calls himself “center right”.

Actually, what he said was 'center left'.

He's not a conservative now, whatever he was before he drank the koolaid.

I’ve paid a heavy price, both personal and financial, for my evolution from comfortably within the Republican Party and conservative movement to a less than comfortable position somewhere on the center-left. Honest to God, I am not a liberal or a Democrat. But these days, they are the only people who will listen to me. When Republicans and conservatives once again start asking my opinion, I will know they are on the road to recovery.

So he complains on the one hand that conservatives won't read the NYT, then cries because conservatives won't read him either, so therefore he's going to be a lefty until conservatives straighten up and fly right? Nice principals there.

One can only hope he's reading this thread on FR and can realize how DC has corrupted him.

Governments in one central spot made sense before the era of modern communications, but a geographically distributed government down to the county level would stop a lot of the power brokering that goes on today.

You’ve never heard of the velocity of money?

LOL!
I know the government takes it from my pay at the speed of light.

Hahaha, that’s funny ;)

But velocity of money is a real thing:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velocity_of_money

It just means how many times a given unit of money will be used over a certain period of time. So when Nancy Pelosi says that $1 of food stamp money creates $1.79 in economic activity she means Food Stamp Recipient A spends $1 for food at Store B who then takes that dollar and spends $0.50 from Supplier C who spends $0.25 on whatever else. The numbers are made up just to illustrate the point that the comment Pelosi made wasn’t really that dumb.

A basic economic principle taught in Macro 101 is not “spin”

A basic economic principle taught in Macro 101 is not “spin”

The "velocity of money" has no bearing on Pelsoi's idiotic claim that, “For every dollar a person receives in food stamps, $1.79 is put back into the economy,” and her contention that food stamps and unemployment payouts produce "the best bang for the buck".

Where did you take Macro 101? Hooterville?

Hmmm, it must have been Hooterville because I just confused the velocity of money with the money multiplier.
