for ONCE I would like an upgrade that is a true upgrade which does not gut all my existing settings and programs.
Supposedly, Win8 will do that if you select the right option. With the problem I had with the installation failing at 58% (no other error), MS suggested I do a clean install (which would wipe out my files and programs).
I purchased a Win8 computer instead and it works great, once all the new features are understood.
However, I now find that if your email program uses a POP3 server......good bye email as POP3 is not supported in Win8.
All MS and their users on the support board would say is to install a different email program (I would have to notify all my clients of the change, which would take days - and possibly loss of some orders). One of their MVP users suggested that POP3 is outdated due to all of the tablets, phones, etc. that are in use today and that an IMAP server is the only way to go), and that I should call by email provider and demand a change to IMAP (like that will happen anytime soon).
I let them know that I was not interested in being wired to email 24 hours a day. My son has done this and the beeping phone and tablets keep him awake all night with incoming email.
I’ve been in the computer business all my life until recently and have never seen such arrogance as is coming fro MS. I wish Apple would reduce their products prices....
