My Son’s Basic Training and OCS companies had face book pages to keep family and friends informed.
Might not be a learning issue. Might be a learning style issue. Schools are geared to teaching boys like girls, and some boys can’t learn that way.
If he wants AF he should go for it! I think there are some study guides you can get that will help you with the test.
Tell him he doesn’t have to date the homo D.I., even if the homo D.I. tells him so.
Good luck to all of you and thank you very much for sharing your story with us!
Thank your son for serving and thank YOU for raising a son that will serve for his country.
He will come home more of a man than when he left and he already is a man if he’s helping with his sister, going to school and working. Please tell him best of luck from NM!
I followed what he was doing the whole time. It is pretty cool they do that now.
Sounds like you are talking about my elder son. He drove me and his dying mother nuts. But he did get through college then a 6 year stint in the Navy as a nuke.
You won’t recognize the difference after he becomes a man in the Army. God Bless you and him.
You have prepared him well and you deserve the praise. He has his own way to make and because of you he’ll do very well.
Don’t be afraid of the Army. I am personally a 22 year Navy vet (cold war. I’m pretty old). But for the past few years I’ve had the honor of working with couple dozen young Army veterans of Iraq and Afganistan and I can tell you that they are some of our finest citizens. Hard working, smart, and solid americans. He’ll be proud to be Army, and you’ll be proud of him...
I would recommend that he consider the U.S. Marine Corp, instead of the U.S. Army... Not that the Army is bad, by any means, but the Corps is a option that is not considered by many.
38 years ago I considered all my options and went into the Corps. I have never regretted it, even though I did but 4 years, I transferred into the Navy as a Field Corpsman and was (by choice) sent back to the Marines to be their Doc, (another option that I never regretted), and 16 years later I retired.
So there is always different options open to young folks, always.
Cheers to him & you!
Aaaw. You needed to get that saiid. You nailed a lot. People don’t realize the enormous struggles we go through in every day life. This was an awesome post. I’m going to be be praying for you and rooting for your son.
Hi Poolee Mom! Join MarineMoms and MarineFamilyNetwork. My only son left for San Diego on Jan 11, 2011 and those sites, plus the prayer group here (Pray for our American Heroes) helped so much during these 2 years. I will put your son in my prayer book and remember, there are millions of us praying for each other and our military and our allies. Pray that your son is assigned to the best Drill Instructor for him. My son’s DI is a great guy and a Christian to “boot!” I still keep in touch with his recruiters, too. If you need, you can always private message me.
You’ve raised a fine young man “Mom” ;) you DID teach him the hard stuff.
If he must be Army... (I’m just kidding, don’t everyone have a cow), but we’d be damn proud to call him a Marine.
Seriously now, thank you. Thank you for your hard work, thank you for raising a son, who will be all of ours Sons, brothers, fellow Soldiers.
We salute YOU Mom.
God bless you and that wonderful son of yours. Makes us all proud. :)
Hi Mom, the crying doesn’t stop, it ebbs and flows. I told my son to wait until a Republican was in the WH but he didn’t listen. He is a Marine, so no surprise there. He grew up so fast, and all the good that was inside just hardened into gold.
As for the Community-organizer-In-Chief, that has been very difficult for most of our service members, but the love they have for each other gets them through. He’ll do well knowing that you love him and respect his decision. Tell him I said thank you and give him a big mama-grizzly hug from me.
We have a prayer group for our military on Freeper in the Religion section. Let everyone know your needs, we pray every day. I got into the habit of praying at 9 p.m. EST when the guys are heading out in Afghanistan. During the day I pray for those doing night missions and for all those working during the day. I’ll add your son to my prayer book. Keep in touch.
I just said a prayer for you and him! God bless him and keep him safe.
You done good Mom.
I’m there. My oldest is currently in the ME. He HATES Obammie and is anxiously awaiting for Nov 6th. He will be devastated if Obamie manages to pull out a win.
And...send this to the Romney Campaign HQ.
Congratulations for raising a fine son! My oldest enlisted in the National Guard recently. He goes to Basic in January. I have the same wish that you do, that our sons will not have to answer to a Marxist CIC in the future.
