Fr. Brian took on marriage in his homily last night. Told us he would not apologize for being a priest and telling us what’s what. For a little guy he packs a powerful punch. He laid it on the line and warned us to remain faithful. LOL Some stunned folks in the pews, but still preaching to the choir. I like him.

You know Twitter gets paid to put the occasional ad in your stream? I ignore ‘em.

They probably couldn’t legally refuse to run Obama ads since they do run ads.

It is 53, gray and gloomy with a light mist-perfect October weather. I’ve been hiking in the woods for hours-since I got back from Mass-and only saw two people on the trails in about 4 miles. The mountain lion’s tracks I saw were fresh, but they led away from the trail into the deeper forest where smart people don’t go alone.

Venus joined me on the trail behind her humans’ property, and insisted on sharing when I sat down in a clearing to eat my lunch. Fortunately, I carry biscuits for neighbor’s dogs in my pack-she ate those and let me eat my melba toast, veggies and apple unmolested, and we shared the water. She is so sweet for a scary looking dog whose bark sounds like certain death-she is one hell of an effective guard dog.

I returned her to her owners as I passed by on the way home-they were on the patio jamming to “The Wall”, so I stopped for awhile to chat, then walked down the hill and home. Now, I’m starving after hiking in the cool air, so I’ll grill some chicken...

I do 20 minutes of reading aloud with the 5th grader. I make him pause at commas and periods. He picked up on it pretty fast when I insisted. He finally found a book he wants to read. The Wanted Man, by Lee Child. A Jack Reacher book. Who knew? I tried Killing Lincoln, but he hated it. I figure in a few months he will be able to rival TOTUS.

He loves to look up the definitions on the kindle and turn the pages. I am sure it will wear off, but he can’t wait to read another chapter each day.

No fireplace lighted or heat on here-it is about 73 in the house, and I’ve got a couple of windows open. It will be warming up to about 78-80 in the next few days. I’ve had the A/C off for several days, and I don’t really think it will be needed much more this year...
