Just had to share this moving article about a legend in female bass angling. She inspired so many female anglers, including me.
mumble... mumble...
...another damn blurry screen bump!
Thanks for that girlangler!
You are quite welcome. Good to hear from you. Sending you freepmail now, as I have something important to tell you.
I was crying as I read that. I met Penny when we both fished the first BASSMASTER Woman’s Bass Trail. I am a recreational angler but fished that one event to show support for the trail.
It is a VERY well written piece about her.

I hate it when my screen gets blurry. Thanks for this story.
I’m the world’s worst fisherman; never caught anything ‘cept a submerged stump and some seaweed, but that was a beautiful article. Damn this blurry screen...
What a great story....and a great lady.
For anyone that has lost an eye...it may be of comfort that it isn’t really all bad. In fact you can even get a private pilots license with only one good eye. The brain figures out depth perception on its own within months. I miss my Binocular vision but only for small stuff like watching 3D movies.
Thanks for posting and the ping, Girl!
Thanks Jaz. I thought it was a very nice tribute.
She's still kicking!
Nope, haven’t met her. There are many lady anglers now making history, but when Penny started there were few.

Ann Thomasson was before Penny...is 10 years older and was one of the first. She’s well known in fishing circles...I know nothing about.
Sorry about the repeat posts.
It certainly is a small world. I have a four pound crappie mounted on my wall that I caught in Lake Oologah on 9-19-87. I went in for cataract surgery on my left eye this past July and my vision did not improve. I had a corneal transplant done two weeks ago and my vision has not improved. I am going to an Eye Institute in Oklahoma City tomorrow. I am hoping to see a Dr. House without the attitude or baggage who can help me. My great aunt was a fisherwoman and after her death I went went my grandfather to her favorite fishing hole and hooked a monster catfish that broke my line. They built a dam and that spot is under 80 feet of water and I never went back.
