Reagan was not a big spender. He always had a Dem controlled Congress (two years of GOP Senate only and they, under Dole, did nothing).
He DOUBLED the revenue but as usual Congress took that and spent it plus more.
His last three years of deficits were very low, all around $150 billion. And even if all of his spending was due to more military spending then GOOD! Carter devastated the military.
I bet you think freedom is free.
Uh, the “last three” would include Reagan.
Also recall that the Dems took control of the Senate between 2001 and 2003, so Bush did not have control of both houses of Congress through all 8 years. Counting the complete loss of control for the last two years of his presidency, he only had control for 4 out of the 8 years.
Just curious, how much of that spending was a result of the aftermath of 9/11, such as federal funding to help New York, establishing Homeland Security both domestically and abroad and an eight year war in the middle east? Then, add in the federal aide to New Orleans and subsequent cities following the aftermath of Katrina?
You did consider those factors, right?
...and I also forgot to mention the accumulating interest on the annual existing debt.
No administration in my lifetime has been fiscally responsible so let's cut to the chase shall we?
Who you gonna vote for in November, Obama or Romney?

In 2007-2008 when unemplyment was under 5.6% - Sears (ALLSTATE) insurance ads on TV had the black actor who played the US President on the popular “24” TV series was saying:
“It sure feels like a recession to me.....”
Pre-Selling Obama before the campaign primaries -
-
Odd - I do not see Sears-ALLSTATE insurance ads talking “It sure feels like a recession!” now with 23 million Americans now out of work and unemployment at 8.3%
-
- Now why did/does Sears-ALLSTATE have such a hidden misleading stealth political message in their insurance ads?

“But you see, a rich country like America can perhaps afford to be stupid.”
- Barack Hussein Obama Junior

The above quote is taken from Obama’s Dreams From My Father. The book he published in 1995 as he began his political career. Five years prior he had been elected the first African-American President of Harvard’s Law review, the book was re-published in 2004 two weeks after Obama gave the keynote address at the DNC convention which launched him to where he sits today.

When 2016 Obama’s America opened I knew I had take my parents to see Dinesh D’Souza’s eye opening documentary 2016 Obama’s America, a movie that every person who is considering voting in the up coming Presidential election should see. On the outside the premise appears to be anti-Obama but because it gives a clear insight as to who the man really is and from where he is from and the people that helped mode the man who now resides as our 44th President. D’Souza has managed to delve into his past and do the job that the media has failed to do.
We see Barack Obama as a man who is still seeking approval from a father he barely knew, a pain that was evident by seeing the reenactment of Barack at the grave of his father. We get a glimpse into how he was raised and shipped from continent to continent and a glimpse of the men who filled the void of an absentee father. Men like Frank Davis, Bill Ayers, Edward Said, Jeremiah Wright and Roberto Unger. All controversial men in their own right. Each of them shaping and molding Obama’s Marxist ideologies.
If reelected to another four years it is likely that Obama will only continue to dismantle America that he views as “too rich” and “too powerful” in the world today. It is evident by his refusing the Keystone pipe line which would have created jobs that are so desperately needed. His desire to weaken our military and reduce the number of arms we have have to protect ourselves. Obama Sr. had the mindset that we should be taxed at 100% and that it was the government who would give us what “they” deemed necessary for us to live and get by.
For America to survive it is imperative that we reign in those bent on her destruction and elect those who vow to govern by the principles set forth by our Founding Father’s and not of those of Obama’s. As Dinesh so poignantly stated near the end of the documentary that it is up to YOU

That is bogus.
You're right, of course. But Bush had a veto pen in his pocket and just left it there. I don't know if this guy is a "troll" or not, but it's silly to try and deny the truth. I liked Mr. Bush personally and for his foreign policy after 9/11.
His allowing such high spending was irresponsible, in my opinion.
On the other hand, GWB's deficits never exceeded 3.5% of GDP while Obama's reached a high point of over 10% in 2009 and have never dropped below 8.5%.
Fun with statistics!
Yep, two weeks before 0bama took office, and two YEARS after Nanzi Pelouzi and the Demonrats took control of both houses of Congress.
You do know that, per the Constitution, all spending bills originate in the House of Representatives, don’t you?
If not, rather than trying to compensate for being wrong by being even more wrong, you might want to sit down, shut up, and do some research before you post something wrong, yet again.
That is a good point. Under that standard, Reagan was a big spender.
Budgets should be balanced, whether the politicians are fiscal conservatives or not.
If you would read for comprehension, you would have seen that in Post 28 I said "What the Republicans did when they were in power was atrocious."
Here's another history lesson for you: For most of the time since the Eisenhower administration, the Demonrats have controlled Congress.
Here's another history lesson for you.
Do you know what the House does when it doesn't like the budget submitted by the President?
Here's a clue: When President Reagan submitted budgets, Tip O'Neill, Speaker of the House at the time, sonorously intoned to the TV cameras "President Reagan's budget is deaddddd onnnnn arrivalllll".
The Won has submitted several budgets. To the best of my knowledge, no congressman has ever voted in favor of any of his budgets.
As has been pointed out to you before, only the House of Representatives can spend money.
In other words, a ~7 trillion dollar budget?
Got a cite for that?
Loonshit/moonbat is gone!
Thanks mods.
Loonshit/moonbat is gone!
He will blame it on Bush.
Is there anyone here willing to defend the GOP on budgetary restraint? Are we sacrificing so called trolls because they are now pointing out obvious truths about the failure of the two party system and the lack of cajones the GOP displayed on budgetary issues once they wrested control from the Democrats after 40 years? Are we now actually defending the GOP when it rightly deserves our condemnation? While far better than the alternative party, let’s not delude ourselves into thinking that the GOP has performed wonderfully on budgetary issues. Let’s not purge the rolls of “trolls” who are merely stating fact.
If you read the whole thread, I think you will find many have said that the Republicans have not lived up to expectations.
The moonbattery dude had “issues”
“He will blame it on Bush.”
IT was BushWacked!
