I refused to even turn on Beck this morning. He sounds like Don Imus. I never believed he was for Santorum...just picked someone who didn’t have much of a chance and thought he could switch to Mitt when Santorum was gone and no one could claim that he was just voting for a Mormon. I do have Boortz on and he is going to explain exactly what Newt’s ethical violations where. So much misinformation about Newt out there. After I prepare my cocks for their next fight I might makes some calls for Newt LOL!!
An unbearable charletan.
Yes he has. Unfortunate, I used to think of Beck as over the top but on the right track and often times correct. Watched him faithfully up until right after "restoring Honor". He seemed to start losing it bad after that.
Now he's as much of a nut case, if not more, than Ron Paul.
Thanks for the update I didn’t hear that.
The reason I didn’t hear that, would be I changed the station at the the top of the hour, specifically to avoid his show.
I’m listening to NOAA weather radio instead.
More compelling by at least half.
He says he’s for Santorum. But Santorum doesn’t have a snowballs chance. Beck knows this is going to end up Newt vs Mitt. At this point it’s clear one of the two will get the nod. Will Beck then go for 3rd party? No. He’ll endorse Mitt - who Beck says is Progressive. If so, why support him?
Really, his hatred of Newt is not very becoming. And it goes against his own code. Would George Washington act like this? And his fury at voters is childish. If he really believes in what he’s saying he needs to explain it in words like a grown up. And another thing, Beck was supposedly a supporter of Perry. Perry is endorsing Newt not Santorum. How does Beck explain that? If Newt is evil then obviously Perry is too.
To me this explains why Beck never liked Palin - something I could never understand. I think now because Sarah Palin was standing between Mitt and the 2012 elections.
Had to turn off Beck today.
Since when is stating the fact that Beck is a Mormon, as is Romney, religious bigotry? That’s simple fact and in now way denigrates the religion. If you’re so thin skinned, I suggest you find something else to do with your time.
I am very confused with Glenn Beck. At one time, I was a huge fan but not sure what happened with him. I never listen to him anymore.
I like Beck most of the time, but if you haven’t been able to detect that he seriously has a screw loose somewhere, you haven’t been paying very good attention. I’m sure having a mormon so close to the presidency, and then being rejected, is very disappointing to him.
Mormonism obviously come up for close scrutiny (esp in the Religion forum). A recently created religion whose beliefs are contrary to the Judeo-Christian tradition should not be surprised to find itself closely examined.
If you think this board is hard on Mormons, please think about what the MSM will do when they decide to pursue that angle of attack.
I was flamed here during his “I’m going blind” crisis several years ago. I knew he was a lunatic hypochondriac but I was condemned for not saying a prayer on his behalf! I wonder where all those folks are now...
I listened to Beck, occasionally. He had (has?) a few good ideas.
Eventually, I got tired of all the hyperbole. "Tune in at the top of the hour for the MOST IMPORTANT announcement ever made in the HISTORY of CREATION! Of this Universe, or ALL OTHERS!!!"
Blah blah blah, pretty soon I tuned him out.
I don't see the bigotry, but I do see the reality. I can guaran-damn-tee you that the South WILL NOT vote for a polytheist. I won't happen. Evangelical voters in the South will stay home if a Mormon is the nominee. I'm not expressing my own view, only the reality of the situation.
You have to understand that Glenn Beck suffers from ADD. He has said as much himself. Yes it is real, I have it and I know. One of the hallmarks of the disorder is to make dramatic changes in life about religion or career choice often and suddenly. I started listening to him back before the 2004 elections. He went through a phase where he wanted to be less political and then right after he got very political on the show. I stopped listening to him when I couldn’t reconcile the contradiction between his rationality in regards to liberty and the constitution and his holding to a totally made up religion.
Beck does seem to have his magic underwear all bunched up today
.
It is a hoot, isn't it? It's amazing how much folks believe they know...
I thought I was going to laugh myself out of my chair the other day when a FReeper called Rush an extreme leftist...
>>Man, there is a lot of religious bigotry on Free Republic. I dont recall that from when I joined.<<
You and I have different memories. I remember it back in 1998. It actually affected my at my job (Mormon run).
That said, I don’t see it as bigotry. I see it as healthy religious discussion.
FYI, I used a different name back in the day, and only came back last year.
—Beck = Mormon. Romney = Mormon. In a nutshell...—
I got reamed for saying almost exactly the same thing in early January. I apologized, but took the apology back today. ;)
What I said then:
Glenn Beck = Mormon
Mittens = Mormon
End of lesson.

It isn't religious bigotry. It's an attempt to explain Beck's preference for one progressive over another.
in the morning.
