Well, you can count that as free hunting with no limit.

“Now, there’s an optimistic guy! And one who doesn’t at all mind leaving behind a widow.”

What I mind has nothing to do with this.
It is what my girl wanted, so address any criticism to her.
I will admit, however, the boy has become a fantastic joy for both of us, and he is an American, as well as Philippine citizen.

“There seem to be quite a few places in the world that are promoted on the basis that “If you have a steady supply of dollars, the locals will see you get a steady supply of whatever you want.”

It’s not the life I want, but if it’s the life they want, fine.”

How is that any different from your life or anyone’s? Supply the power company with dollars, they will get you power. Stop, and they stop. Same with bread and lobsters and crayons.

I have a friend who went to Manila to run a company in the 90s. He was married to a filipina, still is, with 3 kids now. They have a big house in a gated community outside Manila, have hired all her relatives at various times for maids and drivers and cooks. He says he will not return and will stay there til he dies. He loves it.

The citizenship work was quite extensive, a stack of papers about 6 inches high.
DNA is NOT required unless the child looks quite questionable, but from day one everyone commented that he looked just like me.

After all of the paperwork and interviews, he was sworn in.
The head counselor said it was the first mixed child that he had ever seen that had NO Philippine characteristics.

If I knew how to post photos here, I would post one of him.

Depends on what kind of Social Security one is talking about.

That is true. It could be disability, in which case Mr. AlexW is younger than I presumed him to be. But his post back to me did not say as such.

I have lived in the Philippines and other Southeast Asian countries for about half the year since 2005. The Philippines is my favorite country.
The major reason I like the third world countries is the fact that there is little or no government interference in your daily life. The Philippines like other third world countries in the region is hot, noisy, polluted, snake and insect infested and it can be quite dangerous especially for an American.

The people are poor and for the most part happy with their existence, at least in the provinces. I don't worry about crime as we have plenty of relatives around..

Health care is pretty good as long as you can pay for it up front but dental care leaves quite a lot to be desired.
Its cheap to fly to Hong Kong or Singapore to get health and medical care if you want also if you are retired military there are plenty of providers and medical faculties that accept TriCare.

If somebody goes there thinking they will live like a king then they most likely will be disappointed. If you have reasonably good health and you are not afraid to be the only American amongst tens of thousands of Filipino’s and realize that if there is any trouble that there is no way in the world anyone will help you and you are ok with that then its a pretty good life...

I recently saw an episode of "House Hunters International"

I used to watch "House Hunters" until about every third couple they spot lighted was queer.

No thanks.

My guess is that TC has it down to the point where she’ll be advising the doctors and nurses about what to do, and the new baby, too! :)

Dr. Something-Polish roared with laughter when I turned up in his office *again*, and he’s had to do nothing except ask, “Anything to report?” for the last several months.
