To hear things like this, just tickle me to no end. It restores hope to the heart for this nation of ours.

I am sitting here with my sweet dog Buckley and no one else. My husband and son should be home soon, but it’s nice just being here with the doggie.
Merry Christmas!

How about a little Christmas levity?
“Christmas is a time when kids tell Santa what they want and adults pay for it. Deficits are when adults tell the government what they want and their kids pay for it.” - Richard Lamm, politician
“Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree. In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall.” - Larry Wilde, motivational speaker
“Santa Claus has the right idea. Visit people once a year.” - Victor Borge
“I once bought my kids a set of batteries for Christmas with a note on it saying, toys not included.” - Bernard Manning
or Borge, Danish musician and humorist

You’ll enjoy the weather in Florida, where in my neck of the woods, it’s currently 67 degrees.
Earlier this evening I took my grandkids to see the neighborhood’s Christmas lights. They’ll be back in the morning but right now I’m enjoying “It’s a Wonderful Life” with my two German Shepherds.

I have been watching “It’s a Wonderful Life” courtesy of YouTube. It’s in fits and starts, but I got the highlights.
Merry Christmas, Alice!

Hey AtlantaBelle. I was army infantry during the Gulf War in 1991. I saw some of the aftermath of what the Iraqis did to the Kuwaitis, and heard of even worse things. Thank you for telling that story.

Me too! Born and raised Southern so LOVE this Country but got an amazing perspective from living overseas ESPECIALLY 2002-2005. I was standing in my Paris living room in March 2002 with the housekeeper who was Romainian and came once per week. We watched the tanks roll into that Square in Baghdad and I asked her" where are the people". She told me an incredible story about her childhood and how they were afraid to go celebrate after Ceauşescu. She said that the people thought it was a trick and if they DID go into the streets, they would be arrested. Later, as the voting and transition progressed, she was amazed. She was SO PRO American...as were MOST "other" Foreigners I met in France.
