I think enough time has passed.

Herman Cain should un-suspend his campaign now.

Old news. Nobody cares. Time to get back in.

He said unequivocally that he is not running...of course there are some Freepers who will claim he is unequivocally wrong!!

I initially suspected he had something up his sleeve, or temporarily suspended for legal reasons so he could pursue his accusers. I really thought that suspending was code for “I’m coming back in”.

After this interview, I’m convinced he is not getting back in.

He made it clear he cannot handle the heat.

He should have never gotten in to begin with.

He should have known this kind of stuff was coming.

His family including grandchildren was threatened. Could you handle the heat?

He made it pretty clear that suspended = quit. He's done.

No one drops out of a presidential campaign over false allegations. It is clear he doesn't want the media digging around in his past, so there are obviously some things related to these allegations that Cain feels he can't defend.

Yeah well.

If we keep appealing to our side not to back down. Ever, eventually one of them will get the idea.

Maybe.

Herman was a rock solid as a mountain.

It’s clear to anyone with even half a brain that he did none of what he was accused of, which is why I expect a very good portion of this website not to care, because they also engaged in the lynching of an innocent man.

Shame on conservatives, bunch of fools.

If it is true in this case, there is no comparison for sarcastic know-it-alls to make is there?

Hey, the Ross Perot explanation never goes out of style !

Amazing anyone actually believes the "my family is receiving threats" excuse for not running or quitting a campaign. Pretty much EVERYONE in the public eye receives death threats. Oddly enough, it is usually not the candidates themselves that claim this as their reason for bailing, it is usually their supporters who are desperately searching for some way to justify and excuse the fact their favored politician let them down.

Cain's case is much more simple. He has skeletons in his closet he can't defend, didn't want to deal with the media scrutiny and quit the campaign.

“No one drops out of a presidential campaign over false allegations.”

I agree, Longbowl. He wants the investigations halted. If he was truly innocent, he would be outraged.
As for family now being his main concern, when he was “travelling” around the country before for extended periods of time ...he didn’t seem to be terribly concerned about them then.
Apparently he was not the model husband and father before. Maybe now he’ll reform. Hmmm.

Even if you believe that he was falsely accused of any improprieties with the accusers, there is one fact that he has admitted to.

He had a 13 year relationship with a woman whom he travelled with, lavished gifts on and DID NOT TELL HIS WIFE ABOUT.
This qualifies as dishonesty at the least and an emotional(or physical) affair at worst.

It’s not Conservatives who are foolish but Mr. Cain himself, if he expected to sail through the pre primary process without anyone finding out.

We don’t know what else is true yet.
This is in no way the lynching of an innocent man.
Hermie’s got some ‘splainin to do ..and he didn’t come close last night on Hannity.

YEAH, I KNOW, IT’S HORRIBLE TO HELP SOMEONE WHO NEEDS HELP.

WE CERTAINLY CAN’T HAVE A PRESIDENT WITH A HEART.

Get out of my face with this crap, you lemming.

>>> His family including grandchildren was threatened. Could you handle the heat?

It’s not an issue of can... it’s an issue of will.
I would have announced those threats publicly... it could have worked for him.

I don’t blame him for putting his family first... but he should have known what he was up against before he got in.
His retreat suggests he didn’t know what he was getting into. This is why we don’t have good people in office.
They either back down from the threats, or choose not to run in the first place.

We don’t want someone who can just handle the heat... we want someone who can put out a little heat of their own.

I cannot say I would be that kind of person, and I’m not deriding Cain for his decision. I was behind him 110%. He was my candidate.

I’m just extremely disappointed and discouraged about this nation’s moral majority’s will to fight.

It literally sickens me knowing now what this nation will have to endure because of this.

Yes, I too think he should have gone public and fought on. But it was not my grandchildren who were in danger.

Good analysis.
Noted last night Cain said he had actually decided to drop out FRIDAY MORNING after talking with Gloria on the phone. Exposing another less than honest statement “they had not decided until Saturday” put out to build up presser interest and maybe part a few more suckers from their money.

Asked a poster yesterday for some background on “threats to grandchildren” claim, no reply.

Again, I ask for some credible linkage to your statement.
