Belmar NJ is near Lakewood NJ. I was unable to find a Belmar CO near Lakewood CO.
What a bizarre twinning.
Belmar is a development of shops/restaurants and condos within Lakewood, Colorado. My take is that the city gave away the store to get the development and is now trying to recoup their costs.
Belmar is a new “village” built on the site of an old 60s style megamall, for $750 million if I recall. It’s a nice concept, I live in nearby Golden which is an actual village.
The fee is for public works, so should be considered a tax. But there is a grey area. My condo association charges for snow removal as part of HOA dues, a fee; non deductible. However in many locations, snow removal is included in local property taxes and IS deductible. Garbage collection falls in the same grey area.
So this is like an HOA fee charged on a sales transaction.
In any event, the cost of Belmar just went up 2.5%. Shame, there are some nice restaurants there.

“Where the West Lives!”
And pretty wild on a Friday nite at the Buffalo Rose.
That crappy Larimar Square in Lakewood will look like the bad parts of downtown within a decade.
They have the added bonus of that commie light rail so the gang bangers and drug addicts from Denver have a taxpayer funded ride to commit their crime in the ‘burbs.
No reason to venture east of Kipling.
“No reason to venture east of Kipling”
Except for a couple of gun shops I drop in to.
And my dog swims.... in Clear Creek.
Well, Green Mtn and 5280.
I walk it frequently when the weather is good. who knows, might have petted yer dog on one of my rambles past the kayak park.
Grn mtn and gunsmoke (before the tv show)
I remember you like Gunsmoke.
Have you shopped 5280 Armory? Nice couple run it. Good prices from my experience.
Any good ‘smiths you know around here besides Wyatts guys?
Agreed - the 5280 guys are great.
Actually the tax cost went up 14%
The class III stuff reminds me how poor I am...
“good smiths “
Don’t know any, sorry. I run to old bolt action rifles from WW1 and WW11 eras. I went to gunsmoke a year or so ago because I heard an ad on Peter Boyles show that they had bought a large collection of old rifles. Some were a decent price, some were overpiced, IMHO and I acquired a few. I still hangout once in awhile. The American Gun show is fun. I had no idea how much gun smithing they did there.
I’ll check 5280 out. A guy I work with sez they are good, too.
Ok, wait, let me try this again - local sales tax 5.6%, combined
So, a $1 product costs $1.056
With the FEE, the product costs $1.025, all of which is taxed (a tax on a tax - welcome to the smoker’s world), for a total cost of $1.0824
Actually, a 47% increase in sales taxes, disguised a a fee.
NBC Sports Network (Versus) has a natl tv series that shows off south Denver metro and mountain fisheries. It’s called LipEm & RipEm. It should probably drive tourism your way.
