My neighbor has one but I would prefer a 9x19 which has more firepower.

Thanks for all the replies, you have all been helpful.

Another question: If I am legally carrying concealed and someone notices my weapon, can I be arrested for open carry?

Depends on your state. In PA we have open carry, so if somebody notices your gun it's no big deal.

AT the other end of the spectrum we have what happened to that guy in the Las Vegas Costco

In Texas that's called printing and yes if they can see it your brandishing in violation of the law. What you should do is immediately leave the area and fix it.

Shotgun, sawed off, looped around your shoulder via a length of rope running through the stock, underneath a black, leather duster jacket. Preferably with dark or reflective silver shades, five o’clock shadow, and a giant face scar.

I spent 35 years working in the People’s Republic of New Jersey where you need a FIREARM ID to purchase a BB gun and slingshots are banned. Retired and moved back to the Pennsylvania firearm friendly homeland.

Like PapaBear said it completely depends on how your new WI law is written. In FL it use to be that you would be in trouble. They just passed a new version here so now you have a little protection.

“I’m pretty sure the new Pennsylvania “Castle Doctrine” law negates this.”

It’s still the best action, imo, if you can safely away. Since I started carrying and thought things thru, I have become far less assertive of my personal space walking, driving etc. than I used to be. I’d rather avoid a confrontation than have to shoot someone.

If you want to stand your ground and the law permits it, I have no criticism. My personal preference would be to let the other guy think I ran away because I am such a wuss and he is such a man. OTOH, I know his life was legally in my hands but I let him live by running away. Frankly, I don’t care what he thinks. I care what God and the DA think.

Carrying really changed my outlook. It gets real.

“Castle Doctrine” is up for consideration in WI too. Pray it passes.

I totally support that recommendation. Females should consider carrying in the small of the back, canted to your preference. Ultimately, try every position and pick the combination with which you feel comfortable under pressure but also have a backup position based on weather and suitable clothing.

“I care what God and the DA think.”

Exactly.

Whatever the circumstances, if you’re involved in a shooting, you’re going to be run through the mill.

Have a good lawyer and keep your mouth SHUT.

If you can’t remember 10 rules (I am riddled with ADHD), these two rules will do:

1. All guns are loaded all the time.
2. Don’t point your weapon at anyone you don’t intend to kill.
