 Thanksgiving Pardon
November 24, 2011
Each year at the end of November, the President of the United States issues an official pardon for the National Thanksgiving Turkey. During this lighthearted ceremony, one president remarked: Our guest of honor looks a little nervous. Nobodys told him yet that Im going to give him a pardon. The poor turkey had a good reason to be uneasywithout an acquittal, he was doomed to be Thanksgiving dinner.
We are in a similar situation when it comes to our sin. Without Gods pardon, were on our way to certain demise. This condition is a direct result of our own wrongdoing. The Bible says, The wages of sin is death (Rom. 6:23). However, we can be set free from this death sentence because Gods Son bore our sin in His body on the cross, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousnessby whose stripes you were healed (1 Peter 2:24). First John 1:7 tells us that Jesus blood cleanses us from all sin.
We can accept Gods pardon for our sin and receive eternal life when we confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe that God raised Him from the dead (Rom. 10:9). Today, consider how you will respond to Gods offer of forgiveness.

Amen..and Thanks Be To God

Dolly , thanks for sharing this 2005 thread.
Truly we have much to be thankful for........first and formost for the love and salvation given to us freely from God Our Father.
For friends, many of who are right here at FR...
For family, even with all of our frailties and warts!
For America, even though we are suffering terribly as a nation right now, God still has His Hand of blessing on us..
I give thanks to God this day.

Happy Thanksgiving, Dolly! I will enjoy reading the thread from The Finest, tomorrow. Thank you for sharing!
Hi, Conor! I’m catching up on some pings before I ‘do’ the two birds. I peeled, cooked and mashed 10 lbs. of taters last evening, and reduced the syrup for the sweet potatoes. Today will be simple - (after the turkeys are baking). Green bean casserole and stuffing. Fifteen minutes, tops!
Hope you have a wonderful day today with the family, and that huge bird. *hugs*
OH, so lovely, Meg. Thank you! A Blessed Thanksgiving to you and your family!
