My friend, the Busdaddy, has a house that is well adapted for desert living. At least in the winter. The south- and west-facing windows provide heat when the temps outside are in the 30’s and 40’s, thus saving on winter heating.
In the summer, those particular windows need thermal curtains.
He is from MA, and likes cooler weather. I dress accordingly. It’s easier to put things on than to take them off...seems to be a law against nekkididity.
I will forgive your M-D westerly migration, since some of my folks came from the Mason and others were south and west of the Dixon...;o]
No migration involved. I was born here.
The only movement involved might have been vertical, as the next one will be.
Ah. The Mayflower, the Anne and various natives who met them, provided plenty of ancestors for me. Somewhere, in the log of the Mayflower, is a story of one of my ancestors...washed overboard in a storm...
I would like to compare genealogies with you. We may be cousins, after all!
Off to bed
LOL. I make 3 kids run away in sheer terror this year. It was kinda slow.
Are you the keeper of the undead ping list? If so, I’d like to sign up. Do you have membership dues, or is it mostly based on how (in)sane I are?
That's the funniest thing I've seen in ages. Mainly because it's true!
In Minneapolis they have the enclosed walkways going from store to store downtown. It’s been years since I’ve been back - but I recall walking for blocks through all the buildings inside at Christmastime. Never figured out how he could find the car again in some enclosed and warm garage.
Drove home and parked in the heated garage connected to the house - never had to step outside into the cold or snow!
Heh - I guess they’ve been busy since I left!:
“The largest continuous network of skyways the Minneapolis Skyway System spans 8 miles (13 km) connecting 69 blocks in downtown Minneapolis.”
Yes, I am now the current keeper of the Undead Thread.
I recently rejoined the military, and I don’t know when I’m heading off to training yet.
Being that I am prior service, they’ll drag their feet some.
So once I am unavailable to run the pings, there are designated people to help with that.
You are added to The List by the way.
As for membership dues, just add to the wreckage of the thread.
Being crazy is NOT a pre-req but it does help!
This is news?

He finally read the map?
I could have sworn he made them.
Merely wanting to join us is proof of adequate insanity.

Our hypothetical residence, the Flying Castle, which was built in various pieces and moved about by various means, now occupying a four-year orbit beyond that of Mars, has an enclosed traffic system that we call the spherical elevator system.
It connects the three Habitats rotating about a common center for artificial gravity by means of, ta da! spherical elevator cars with doors like a vertically oriented eyelid. As one travels within or between the Habitats, the car rotates for acceleration purposes and to the local orientation, so that one may step out at the destination with reasonable aplomb.
The Habitats, "Are We There Yet?", "He's Touching Me!", and of course the Flying Castle, are on separate Time Zones each eight hours from the next. It's always morning somewhere, and that morning is only minutes away.
I mention this because ostensibly, this traffic system, which does not make you walk, covers many miles of tortuously convoluted spaghetti-stranding in and among the Habitats.
By the way, there are areas below the Castle where it is inadvisable to travel alone, and even worse to go in groups.
Are we there yet?
Best part of the Undead Thread: Literary madness.
We can write horrid short stories and demolish the thread.
That is, IF my typos don’t end us all first.
And with this thread, we honor the typo SCRIFICE.
Which we actually have yet to define.
