Well I’m certainly confused now. What can he possibly mean? The statement that “abortion should not be legal” means the government can and should make the decision.
Cain doesn’t strike me as a double-talker, nor as someone like Reid (”taxes are voluntary”) or Obama (”I’m cutting the deficit in half”) who thinks people will believe whatever he says.
My guess is that he’s ticked off that the Cain-haters are twisting his words and that even some of his supporters are wavering over this. He’s been put on the defensive when there’s probably no good reason. So rather than explain what he means by “it’s that family’s decision”, he simply retreats to “Look, abortion should not be legal.”
I suspect he could do some good by elaborating his views viz. rape/abortion, and I hope he does so - preferably in a venue other than the high-pressure soundbite interviews the press loves so much.
Let me write slower for you and your logic 101:
A: Having judges who will over turn Roe is the ONLY thing Constitutionally with respects to abortion law that can be done.
Thats a big stick however, in fact.......
B: Having said that, in many cases, with respects to all issues, the most important legacy some Presidents leave are their judicial appointments - SO - judicial appointments are very important and powerful tools of a President indeed.
I give up.
